Aka as TTMM, this is something I have not heard about in a long time. For that reason I assume it has been discontinued.

Anyone?

:wizard:

Last I read, it had been discontinued several years ago...why do you ask? Have you rumors that it might be coming back?

If I remember correctly, it use to be a special perk.
If you bought a trip package, there were coupons/vouchers of some kind that would get you into ToonTown and hour before it opened for the day.
Kind of like EE/MM for ToonTown.

Yeah i remember a long time ago. Kind of the original "early entry" feature where if you had the ticket(i seem to remember a coupon book the first time we had it, coupon book had 10% off merch and some other coupons as well, buy more get more blankets etc) where you got to go from the ropes at the end of main st straight back to toon town, before the rest of the park opened.

I like the coupon that gave you preferred seating for Aladdin. There were never many people using this one. You gave the CM your coupon and you were shown to the waiting area that entered the theater first. There were even benches to sit on while you waited.
Oh.... Those were the days.....

TTMM was G R E A T ! We used to go to it at least once every trip to DL! You got in the park an hour early and only a limited number of people were allowed in Toon Town for the show. Mickey, Minnie, Donald and all the main Disney characters did a big song and dance routine. Everyone was given "Honerary Citizen of Toon Town" buttons. You could get all the pictures you wanted with the characters without waiting more than a few minutes, if that. Kids could ride all the Toon Town rides with no lines. I have a lot of pictures of it on a Memory Stick in the safe. It was one of the GREAT things Disney used to do that was discontinued for some reason. :sad1::sad::sad2:

I just came across my old coupon book with these from a trip in 2009! I'm bummed I never used them (or my Aladdin ones) hearing more about it. Had totally forgotten about this perk.

Oh yeah. The funny part is we had that the first time we saw it. When we went to see it the second time (without coupon book). I told my wife we needed to get there at least 30 minutes early and she didn't believe me.

I have very fond memories of TTMM. It was literally the very first thing we did when entering the parks on our very first visit, and we have a great little video of my 4-year-old daughter being the very first person to run up to Mickey on a completely empty street and give him a big hug. And we were worried the characters would freak her out. :)

Since you were working on updating your tinfo, I will say that although the Morning Madness is gone there is still a short opening ceremony each day. Since Toon Town opens an hour after regular hours they have their own little opening. Just before Toon Town opens Mickey, Minnie, and maybe some friends come out. They welcome guests to Toon Town and walk in with them. My daughter walked into Toon Town holding Mickey's hand once, and I've seen him do so with other kids since. It isn't as fancy as the Morning Madness described above, but it is nice for little ones or those in love with the main characters.

Do they still pick the mayor, family, etc? My kids wanted to win that when they were younger but haven't wanted to go to toontown for a few years.

Some pics from 2010 I believe..You will notice in the first two pictures behind my son and the characters, there is no one behind them. Very few people were admitted to TTMM.PC240001.JPG PC240003.JPG PC240004.JPG PC240010.JPG PC240012.JPG

It wasn't done like that always.

With our coupons we had to get into a separate line *early* and were held there. And we were last into the theater. For absolute junk seats on the bottom floor where the stage was obstructed and you could only see the bottom of the flying carpet.

Wasn't the best thing ever for me.

No. This is just the characters coming out for hugs and greetings and then walking the guests into Toon Town. There was no ceremony. Mickey and Minnie then go to the front of their houses for pictures. There is no photopass photographer, but it is a faster way to get your picture with Mickey than waiting in his barn might be. I say might, because it has been a long time since we've had to wait very long in the barn. I feel like we usually just walk into an empty theater and wait until the CM lets the next set in. But I think that is because we visit during times of the day when it's not as busy.
