Toontown/Fantasyland touring plan?

I'm hoping I can get some good advice from all of you on how to "properly" tour Fantasyland and Toontown. We missed out on large chunks of both, and so we're trying to get to most of it this trip. Also, it's the first time at DLR for both my DH and FIL so I'd like to look as if I know what I'm doing. ;) Is it best to go through all of the Fantasyland attractions at once and THEN go to Toontown, or should we break it up, or maybe go to FL one morning and then Toontown the next? If it's not obvious, I'm a little confused, lol!

Toontown opens an hour after the park opens. (Two hours after MM, if it's a MM day.) I do both on the same day, but the touring plans depend on MM issues.

Are you looking at a MM day or a non-MM day? If it's MM day, do you have MM?

Nala is asking some good questions about MM. Here is some info on MM - "Magic Morning (Early Entry) Super Thread" by DLR29 www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1675403

Issues to get a grasp on:

o MM is on Sun/Tue/Thu/Sat

o If you have more than one day then use to your advantage on how you tour FL and TT

o Be aware of Toontown Morning Madness - also discussed in above link. TTMM is on Sat/Mon/Wed/Fri

o If you have MM it is best to do FL then. If not it is best to do it first thing on a non-MM morning.

o If you have TTMM it is best to do TT then. If not it is best to do it first thing on a non-TTMM morning.

o Do get ride orders you can use RideMax www.ridemax.com.

Yes, we will have an MM day (we're going to be there Fri, Sat, and first half of Sun), and we do not have TTMM, so it looks like we'll be doing FL first on our MM day and then heading to Toontown after that (assuming dd isn't ready for her nap by then, which she might be since she takes one around 11:30).

You should be done with MM by 8am on Saturday.

You could continue with any FL rides you haven't done or hit Buzz, Autopia, etc. for the next hour.

On Disneyland.com your dates/hours aren't up yet but are getting close and everything around it is 8am opening for Fri/Sat/Sun.

At 9 am Toontown should be opening so you can enjoy that and be done with the "big" rides for your DD by 10 am or so and get her to her nap on time.

That should be a great morning for all.

So you will be coming into TTMM on Fri or Sat after a TTMM which will make things a bit more crowded. With no TTMM on Sunday that would be a good time to do anything in TT which you could not fit on Fri or Sat due to crowds. If it was me and I my kids were really young I would not hold off TT til Sunday just to get a slow morning. Too long to wait. I would do it on Sat or whatever. The one ride that can be especially frustrating is Gadget's Go Coaster. It is a little short 30 second ride I once waited 45 minutes for. Never again. We only do GGC first thing on a non-TTMM morning. The other TTMM activities will probably not be too bad right after TTMM.

I'm with Hydroguy on this. Doing TT on a morning when they have TTMM isn't the best move because it will already be crowded at normal opening time from people had passes into TTMM. It would be a lot more crowded on Saturday morning than Sunday morning. So saving in until Sunday morning might be the best idea time/crowds wise.

Thanks for the advice, I think I'll end up splitting them between our two MK days. We'll do Fantasyland for our MM on Friday morning, do DCA Saturday, and then Toontown Sun morning. :)

Please reread my MM superthread posted by Hydroguy earlier. MM is only offered on "the days that start with S and T"-Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday. So there is no MM on Friday. :thumbsup2

Here's what I would do:
Friday-Enter DL at park opening, start in Tomorrowland or Adventureland, hop and be flexible all day
Saturday- Use MM to go to Fantasyland, hop eventually and continue to tour
Sunday-Enter DL at park opening, start in Adventureland/Frontierland, then head over to Toontown at 9, then hop eventually and do whatever

Unless, Toontown cannot wait until the last day, which is totally understandable for little kids. They want to see Mickey once they get to DL. If so, then Toontown on Friday won't be terrible. The crowds on Friday don't usually even show up until late afternoon/early evening.

The above plan wouldn't work out well for us since we want to get our free character photo at the greeting area in DCA that's available to Visa holders, and from what I've read it's only open for a short period of time (starting half an hour after park opening, which might be closer to when we actually get there). Thanks, though, for the information, I must have misunderstood something about MM, but that will definitely impact how I plan out our days there. :)

You can still do that plan that I mentioned because DL (on weekends) always opens before DCA. On Fridays usually DL opens at 8 or 9 and on Sat/Sun, 8AM. DCA doesn't open until 10. So the most common strategy on these boards is to get to DL at its opening (8 or 9), get in a couple rides and grab a couple FP and then hop over to DCA at 10 or a little later. You should be able to get a few things done at DL before DCA's opening, if that's your concern.
