Toon Town, am I alone in disliking it?

Ok, went to D Land on Wed for a few hours. Decided to go into Toon Town for a bit and realized why I don't frequent it. There's not much to do there, you can ring doorbells, go on Cartoon Spin, and walk around. Am I missing something, keep in mind I don't have kids (leaving that one up to octomom), but when I do go with my friends family their kid 4yo girl would rather to to Tom Sawyers island....

No I don't think your missing anything. I don't have kids either, so Toontown doesn't have much appeal either. Unless there is something we don't know about??

I'm not a big fan of it either, but my 5 year old son loves it! Although he's rang the doorbell, opened the mailbox and stood in the jail a million times now, he still has to do it again every trip. We make a trip through it, but never spend a majority of our day there.

I love the concept of Toontown - the look and the feel - but I wish there were more to do too.

My kids love it. I and my kids wish chip and dale hung out by their treehouse. And I was bummed the bouncehouse was down.
I love how the entire skyline is a cartoon!

I too dig the skyline, it just seem like a cool concept but with poor execution. Being that space at the park is tight, it would seem to be a good spot to put another E ticket ride, being that we haven't had one for what 15 years or so?:confused3

We've only been to Disneyland once, but my kids (then 7 & 4) were not impressed with Toon Town. We only visited once and they just didn't seem to "get it." They had a lot more fun on BTMRR and Buzz.

I think it's geared more towards smaller kids. I know all of my kids loved it when they were around 3 and 4. I could avoid the area all together though.

I don't think you are alone at all in not liking ToonTown - I have a feeling many people agree with you - BUT I have to admit that I really like it! I am 41 years old and have no kids and I still like it! Isn't that sad?:lmao:

First of all, I have found some of my best souvenirs at the Gag Factory in ToonTown. I think that because TT is so far back in the park, a lot of folks don't go back there and so the Gag Factory carries things that have sold out in other stores in the park. Also, I love Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin - it's one of my favorite rides in DL. I've also taken some of my best pictures of friends in ToonTown. I love the shapes, designs and colors of TT and the wacky feeling of it. I love knowing that there is a place I can always go to meet Mickey if I can't find him anywhere else. And, even though it is hard to notice things when there are so many kids running around and TT is so crowded, there are SO many little hidden details and gems that you don't see unless you are really paying attention. I mean stuff way beyond the manhole covers and the mailboxes and the TNT thing. There are jokes inside jokes inside other jokes. Some of the stuff I had never even noticed in the 15 years ToonTown has been around until this past December, when I was roaming around in TT by myself in the rain. I kept saying to myself, "Wow! I never knew this was here!" Again, it is hard to see these things when it is usually packed with people. And you have to be the sort of person who is really detail-oriented to be looking for things, but they are there.

I have a feeling I am in the minority, but I actually think TT holds some of the best DLR details and hidden gems out of all the lands in DL.

Hubby and DS like it, I just sort of deal with it. :)

FWIW Goofy's house is not a bounce house anymore. I was still reading guides that said it was while planning for our sept '07 trip, but it wasn't even then. :(

I'm like you - I LOVE the details and the feel and the concept. We love to play with the instruments on the fountain! We play Toontown online in our house, so it's fun to go to a 'live' toontown. But it would be nice to have more things to do there once you've admired the details...

I think it would be a much better "town" if the food court wasn't always closed, and if there were at least one more ride.

I remember bouncing in the bounce house, probably 19 years ago. Not sure when they got rid of it. Goofy's house is now a mini park. Both my kids like it, I like because I get to sit down for a bit.

I do wish that they could add another ride there - I guess they can't because of space - but I am glad that I am not the only one who likes it in ToonTown!! There may not be many of us, but at least I am not totally alone!:lmao: But seriously, just walking around and exploring there on any given day when it may be less crowded and you can actually get to everything and look at it up close without mobs of people in your way - especially during the holidays when there are even more things to look at - is really a surprise. It doesn't have a lot in terms of activity, but for those of us hidden gems/detail-hunters, it is a bonanza!

I'm really not fond of it. In fact, there have been a number of trips that, with the exception of a possible trip to the Gag Factory (also one of my favorite destinations for souviners), I have not stepped foot in there. Toon town just always feels so crowded. And sticky. Everything feels sticky. Bleh.

I Love to walk though the house and look at the Detail, but its something I think you have to be into. Other then that and Roger rabbit its pretty much just a good photo op. I think there could be more, but its great for kids and thats really what Disney's all about.

I absolutely love Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin and it's become my favorite of that style of dark ride (The fantasyland style, not the POTC/HM style). The rest of Toon Town is themed nice enough (Tons of jokes in the architecture. There is a planning commission sign in the food court area where they ran out of space and had to cram in the last few letters. Too funny. :rotfl2: ), but I agree that it is lacking more good attractions. Gadget's go Coaster is such an obscure reference that I didn't get it at first and I even remember Rescue Rangers (I think it should be re-themed to a more recognizable character like the Goofy one at MK). Another Dark ride (or two) should be added here as well. Maybe something based on the central Disney characters (Mickey, Donald, Goofy, etc) since we really don't have one starring them anywhere else.

The first time I went to Toon Town was just with DH. The boys stayed with Grandma and Grandpa that trip. ;) We had a great time looking at all the funny things to see there. We took lots of pictures and enjoyed walking through the houses and laughing at what each character had. But we are very detailed kind of people. We look for the little details in everything.

We took the boys when they were 6 and they loved it too.

Last summer they were almost 15 and we never even made it back there. It is neat, fun for pictures, and I like it, but I don't need to see it each time. There are other things more imortant to us if we only have a short time.

I go to TT approx every two years, that is pretty bad based on the fact I figure I go to the parks approx 36-48 times in that two year period. I hate to say I am not a fan. Not enough to do back there so I often times forget its even there. It's cute but I wish there was more.
