Took The Plunge... Bought Into DVC

Just got back from 8 nights renting at the Beach Club Villas and our big news is we finally decided to buy into DVC at Animal Kingdom Villas. We were given 160 developer points to use at Sarartoga that must be used within 12 months. We are wondering if we can rent these one time points out to someone since we really don't want to return to WDW for at least a year. We were told by our guide at Disney that we could but then he said no when I talked to him yesterday by phone. Anyone know?

Welcome home I think you are technically not supposed to "rent" out anything. However, you can make a reservation for someone else, whether you are giving the points away or taking money for it. Those "developer points" as they call it are very restricted in their usage since even they expire in 12 months, you cannot really book anything until 7 months before departure. To explain this, I bought myself in August of 2007 and got double developer points. I was planning to travel again July of 2008. I had to call in December 2007 to make my reservation. Therefore at this point, your points can be used for a December 2008 reservation.

Yes my inlaws just added on and used the developer points to book room at OKW for some friends of one of their daughters for Oct.
