Do we still technically have a Guide?

When we were ther Labor Day week, we took the DVC tour at SSR with a Guide (whose name I have somewhere). We didn't buy then because honestly, we had never heard of DVC and only wanted the free gift cards.

But later after we got home and ran some numbers, we really liked the idea, but still felt $16,000 was too much for us. Voila - resale to the rescue. We are waiting to close on a small but effective BWV contract.

My question is- Do we contact our DVC Guide we took the Tour with in Sept., after we are officially members to do a BLT add-on?

Yes, that person is probably your guide. I just bought a resale, and I got a "welcome home" call from the guide that I toured with at Disneyland three years ago. She was my first DVC contact, and it would seem that I have stayed in her system all this time.

We closed on a resale last week and when I called MS this week to see if I was in the system, they gave me my information along with the name and phone # of the guide that had been assigned to us.

Normally, unless your name or address have changed, you will be assigned the same guide with a resale that you originally toured with, or had any previous contact with, if they are still with DVC.

Well we've been waiting since 10Oct. to find out if our resale contract made it through. When I call my agent she says everything seems fine, it just takes awhile sometimes.

Do you think it would help or hurt things if I contacted the Guide we toured with?

Contacting your guide will not help in any way - and if your offer was close to the ROFR floor, it could even hurt. I would just be patient and wait until you are in the DVC system with your resale purchase before contacting your guide about a BLT add-on.

Enjoy the wait! :)

Are you asking if you should contact your guide about the status of your resale? No.

If you are asking about contacting the guide about your BLT add on, then you'll need to wait unti after the resale is over and you are entered into the DVC as an owner. You can't do an add-on until you are an owner.

Resales can take a couple of months from start to finish. I know it's hard, but try to be patient. :santa:

About your Guide, Disney's easily accepted name for a timeshare salesperson.
Your Guide only makes money if you buy from them. Your Guide already has 90 minutes invested in you and you decided to buy somewhere else. That's fine, you made a good decision.

To ask your Guide for help now, is like asking the Sears salesperson to help you with your Kmart purchase. Not a good idea. Should you decide to buy some additional points direct, that's when you call your Guide.

Well not what I wanted to hear, but there seems to be consensus.

You guys are more experienced with these things.

I appreciate your honesty.

I would recommend calling your agent - but it sounds like you have been speaking with them. We just closed on our contract and we didn't have a problem with ROFR - that came in after 2 weeks. We were told that our paperwork would be e-mailed within 30 days and I waited a few days after the 30-day mark then e-mailed the closing services company on 11/3 to see where our paperwork was. They said we should have received it already because it was "supposedly" e-mailed to me on 10/22! I asked for another copy since I never received anything. The woman I spoke with said it wasn't a big deal since the owners hadn't mailed their paperwork back yet either - to which I asked her to "resend" their documents too (I bet they never got their's either). We ended up closing only a few days later. Anyway, I am definitely not trying to alarm you since ROFR was estimated to be 30 days, but you should definitely find out who is in charge of getting the ROFR information from Disney. If it's the closing services company, you might want to contact them yourself. Good luck!
