Hi,

I'm thinking about prepurchase of the glow in dark sticks, bracelet and necklace for my 2 and 1/2 dd. So far I only see them at Target and the pack said for children 3 and above. Is my child too young for it? If not, where else do you think I can get them? I don't need 10 bracelets or 15 necklaces and that's what Target is selling. Thanks

Dollar stores seem to carry them. I think your 2 year old should be fine with them. My youngest dd actually bit a hole in one a few years ago. Called poison control and they said no harm done. worst case scenerio would be a belly ache and possible irritation in and around her mouth. She suffered neither. Thank god it wasn't toxic.

Wal-Mart sells them individually. The sticks are in the camping area and the necklaces, etc., are in the party things. Just watch your little one to be sure she isn't mouthing or chewing it and I think she'd be fine.

Where were they in Target? I'd love to get a larger package.

I get mine at Dollar Tree. The package comes with 6 lightsticks and 6 connectors (which makes I think one necklace and two bracelets). I think someone mentioned before that Dollar Tree has a website, so you can see if you have one in your area. It is one of the best dollar stores.

lorin, Where in Dollar Tree can I find them? I went to Dollar Tree a couple months ago for the 1st time to find a misty fan and it took me over an hour to find it and the employees there are useless. I finally found them hanging near the flower session!!!! Dollar Tree is 15 miles from me so I don't visit it too often.
At Target, I find them in the party favor area. They have blue color packaging.

Someone gave us a pack of glow-in-the-dark necklaces and I let my 2-year-old hold one; I turned my back to do something else while he was playing with the necklace and then I heard him say, "Uh oh, yucky!" and sure enough he had bitten the thing open and his mouth was covered with glowing goo! Thankfully I had read the package beforehand and it clearly stated that the material was non-toxic and contained no glass or other damaging particles, so I knew DS would be fine as long as he didn't choke on the plastic he had bitten off (I quickly removed that from his mouth), but since then I have stuck with the traditional thicker camping-type glowsticks--they would be much harder for a toddler to bite through. (Of course I still check the package to make sure they are non-toxic and glass-free!).

My son's friend broke one open at girl scout camp a few weeks ago while she was getting it out of the package and it got in her eyes. She said it stung a little and her eyes were glowing orange for a few minutes but other than that, they washed it out with warm water and no harm done.

My oldest Son "ate" one of these when he was little.. I too did the poision control center phone call, and was told that I was A-OK... My youngest son decided to get a taste of one last year... he had a whole mouth full of green glow.. and where he let it drip onto the carpet.... There was a clear defined pathway of where he went... LOL

Whoa..I didn't think they were that easy to bite through. I think I would stay away from those if you have a child that puts things in their mouth. We had the cheap ones for a party one year and the connectors weren't that big, I was thinking that could be a choking hazard as well.

I believe either the necklaces or glow sticks say that there is glass on the inside. I'll have to double check, I bought a bunch online for our disney trip for GS(11) to share.

I'll bet your 2 1/2 year old would like it the best if you put the colored glow rings on her ankles where she could see (and not chew on) them! lol Her little feet would fascinate her as she walked or looked at them in the stroller!

My DS's 1 1/2 & 3 y.o. wore glow necklaces last Sept on our Disney trip & we had no problems at all. ::yes::

LOL!!!! I kept passing this thread thinking WHAT in the world is a GROW necklace?? Once I read the responces I knew it was supposed to be GLOW necklaces!!!LOL!!

The best place I have found them is Dollar Tree.

In an old thread, someone mentioned illuminationz.com and I just ordered from them, but haven't gotten my package yet.

This would be for people who want to buy in bulk. They sell the bracelets 100 for $6.99 (plus shipping of course). They give you 100 connectors too so you can make them into necklaces. They also have a shelf life of 2 years so you dont' have to use them up quickly.

I figured we'd use them for our kids b-days in August and then for our trip. We'll have plenty with us to hand out to our fellow Disney friends in case we see some sad faces at night.

They also have the other "glow" products, such as sticks, necklaces, rings, etc.
