Too soon to lock Aulani contract thread?

Very well could be. No one knows why someone listed all those contracts…could be someone worried about how things move with DVC, got notice about potential violations, or personal or divorce situations…or anything in between.

Some think this could be great for Aulani, some think it's terrible for Aulani. Im not versed enough in HI timeshares to know how this might affect my Aulani value.

I doubt it. I think it has more to do with DVC cracking down on commercial renters. I've seen talks about Atlantis being built off and on for awhile, until I see them open their doors for business I won't believe it.
This. Atlantis has been scrapped once already and is purported to be insanely expensive. With Hawaii tourism still somewhat down and certain parts of the state's attitudes toward tourism "evolving", I'll believe this when they actually stick a shovel in the ground.

Would it affect any of the ocean view rooms if it was built?
It depends on the design of whatever the new resort would be.

Candidly, I don’t know if the 87, 85, 83, and 81 block will be able to stay Ocean View.

I’m thinking the poolside garden views may be the safest bet if and when construction starts. Not sure I would want to pay for ocean view and risk being right next to / overlooking the site. Although I’m not against the idea of a new resort and it should have some positive effects on Aulani in terms of making sure they keep their standards high / increased variety of restaurants.

It's only a matter of time before all three lagoons are fully developed. I am a little surprised it has taken this long, TBH. While that development might impact some rooms on the margin, the overall impact is not obviously positive or negative.

To be fair the only rooms at Aulani I trust to have an actual good ocean view are the Grand Villas, otherwise I feel like it's a pretty big gamble for the amount of points being paid for OV. I'd personally rather do I/G or Pool 🤷‍♂️

I want to say that this was first announced many years ago (maybe a half dozen). So yeah, let me know when steel goes vertical.

The big difference is that the land has a new owner and they purchased the land with the goal of moving forward…. not just to sit on unproductive land.

This usually means that they moved forward after a significant due diligence process and receiving commitments from lending institutions about lending the capital needed to build the property.

I remember reading somewhere (one of the Hawaii tourism websites, but now I don't remember which one) that there was a rumor that the original plans for Atlantis received quite a bit of push-back from local tourism groups because it looked very modern/futuristic and not "Hawaiian" enough.

Who knows, maybe this is something that a bus driver made up, but if there's any truth to it, it's another thing that could result in major delays for redesign time.

Have you seen the plans?
