My son will be a young 11 when we go next. I have just spent a very pleasant 45 minutes perusing the menus at allears. I'm wondering if there is nothing on the adult menu he likes, can we order a kid's meal at a higher price? Has anyone had any experience with this?

He always likes steak, and there are some other things he'll eat (mainly seafood and some pastas).........but on a lot of the menus, I couldn't find anything for him.

Also, he will love the light up drinks and kids' desserts..........again, even if he eats adult entree, can he get these drinks and desserts?

Sure. It's Disney. Your son could even order from the kids menu if he were fifty-one. Heck, after seeing the new childrens menu at LTT, I wanna eat there.
And yes, he can still order the drink with the light-up ice cube, and kids desserts even if he orders his entree from the adult menu.

I don't think he's too old for the kids' menus. :)

My DS is 12, and a very TALL 12 (over 6 ft), so he looks older than he is. Both at home and at Disney, he switches back and forth between the kids and the adults menus, and no one has ever even batted an eye. We'll often ask them to bring both an adults' and a kids' menu for him, and then he peruses both (and sometimes mixes and matches between them.)

Another option is to pick a buffet, so that he could get the old kids meal standbys if he doesn't like any of the adult items.

When we went to California Grill and my DD was 12, they handed her both an adult menu and a kids menu. She ordered from the kids menu.

Okay, great, that's fine then. I thought when it said ages 3-9, that 9 was a firm cut-off. No problem if he can order from either. Thanks!

Maggie, thanks for your suggestion, we do have several buffets, but we have some menu restaurants, too, like Coral Reef and Le Cellier..........

I feel your pain! DS (11) will only eat the usual kid's stuff, but the restaurants at WDW are my favorite parts of the trip! He'll have to order off the children's menu as well, which is fine with him!

What I'd give to see the kid eat something green!

Our DS 12 ate off the kids menu, and they knew he was 12yo. The only restaurants that wouldn't allow it were the buffets, which was fine, I understand that...I've even read that some adults have gotten kids meals. :)

Hi paige, will your son eat grilled chicken breast? I know for a fact that most restaurants will serve a grilled chicken breast instead of chicken fingers which my DS hates. We did this at RFC, R&C and Le Cellier. Also, if he likes steak try LeCellier they have a kids steak, or Teppanyaki.

I am an adult (26 yrs old as of this morning!) and I have ordered off the kids menu from WDW many times! I hope this helps :) Have a great trip
