We are going to back to Disney in June. :yay: My DD's are 14 and 16, and this is our fifth trip. Since we're only about five weeks away, we have been talking about it more to our friends and family. The most common comment has been, aren't the girls too old for Disney ?!!!!

The first time someone said that, I didn't think too much about it, just thought that they didn't like Disney the way we do. Then the other day, one of our friends said, " I'm surprised the girls still want to go, my kids out grew that a long time ago. " What planet are these people from? :confused3 I have to say I was very surprised.

We've found that at every age they have loved it, and seem to enjoy it more each time! Has anybody else encountered this, when talking about going to the parks with older kids? Just curious, and just for the record My DH and I will never be too old!!!!

:tink:

I haven't encountered this yet - just the usual "why don't you vacation somewhere else for a change?" uuuggghhhh!!

Disney is for people of all ages, I enjoy it more each time too. With every year we go, and every year the kids grow, the experience is different. We plan on going long after the kids have grown and have families of their own. We will enjoy it on our own and with our grandchildren!!!

When you or anyone for that matter walks into MK you become a child all over again. There are some rides that maybe 'too childish' like Pooh's Grand Adventure or Dumbo, but honestly come on. There are also those rides like Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain, Haunted Mansion to get adrenaline going.
As for AK. Well it's not 'too childish' for a 14 and a 16 year old at all. There is the Safari, Kali River Rapids, Dinosaur ride and Expedition Everest to keep them enthused. It closes at 1700 everyday and by that time you are definately ready to go.
I don't know if you're planning to go to MGM, but out of all the parks, that would be the best one for kids their age. With Rock 'N Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror and several others, they're sure to enjoy it.
EPCOT--A lot of people look at EPCOT and say that they don't want to go on vacation and have to learn anything. Well, EPCOT really isn't like that. I mean sure they'll learn somethings they probably didn't already know, but they'll have a blast. They can explore Europe and the rest of the world without having to even leave EPCOT. I love EPCOT the most second to MK.
Hope this helps.

All I know is that my DD wanted to go with us this past Dec. She couldn't due to work and college. She was upset, we, well, I was upset and I called her everyday. She got sick of hearing from me.
We are planning our next trip in 2007 and she is most DEFINATELY coming with us.
She said she would be like that old Disney commercial. The one where the mom is telling her son that it will only be her and dad going to Disney this time.
The son gets upset and his mom says something like, You have to work and take care of your kids, etc.
My DD and I believe my boys as well will always be interested in going to WDW.
Especially since they love to watch their mom cry at the drop of a hat and make a fool of herself! LOL!!
My kids will never be too old and those that think they are too old for Disney are not having much fun!!

OMGoodness.....you are never too old for WDW!! My DBF and I are both 20...and we go crazy for disney, and try to go atleast once a year, as well as with our families. In fact today...I rec'd. a phone call from him and he says "Hey! Just wanted to let you know AK and MK are on the Travel Channel right now!!". I totally don't get those kinds of people that think Disney is for babies....I may be big but I am just a big kid on the inside. Gee...I dunno what I'd do if I did not have the Magic and Pixie Dust in my life...Dis Boards..or Live 365. Seeing anything WDW brings a ginormous smile to my face!!!!

We go to DL every year(first voyage to wdw coming soon) and people always say stuff...but you know what? There is no way it is too babyish for your kids...\I have an issue with people questioning the validity of vacations...You know your family. You know what they like. It will be totally fun.
The thing I love about Disney(and there are things I am not crazy about) is that they seem to cater to all kinds of people.

You will have a blast. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

My response might be "If you are too old for Disney, then you must be dead".

Too old for Disney?!?! Are you kidding me? Never!!!

Some people just don't understand...

It isn't a matter of age it is a matter of personality. My sister and her DH would never go to DL or WDW just because or for any reason really, they would go to Hawaii or on a cruise in a minute (they wouldn't do the Disney cruise either, just not their style.)

Never to old for Disney!!!

I loved Disney during every stage of my life (well, so far). I loved it when I was 10, I loved it when I was 13, I loved it at 17, I loved it at 21, and I still love it at 27! I hope my kids will be the same way, and love it through their lives like I got to! My grandma went for her first trip at 70, and loved every minute of it! She even road ToT! No matter what age you are, you can feel like a kid!! You are never too old for Disney!! :smickey:

Disney brings out the child in us all. You can never be too old to enjoy the magic of Disney. :wizard:

My kids are DD 22 & DS 19 and they never went throught the ...I'm too old for DL or WDW. They've always have taken friends or family members with us over the years. Even their SOs love Disney and have gone on the trips over the last year. We used to laugh when the kids would say they were going off by themselves and 10 minutes later they'd be back with us.

All our friends and co-workers think we're crazy since most of our vacations are Disney, but hey at least our kids still like to vacation with us. :thumbsup2

DH and I use our children as an excuse to go. You're definitely never too old for Disney!! :cool1:
