Too much time with too little to do?

Need your help! I haven't been to universal in years. This will be the first trip with kids (3.5 and 4mo) and first time staying on site.

We arrive late afternoon Tueday. Plan on going to the parks only one day (Wednesday) then pool relax day Thursday. That leaves us all day Friday with no plans before an 8pm flight. Plan is to use Mears shuttle so we will be stuck on property given the young age of our children, not sure taxi/uber is right for us. Will citywalk, mini golf, bowling, etc keep us entertained enough Friday? Especially seeing Thursday is already planned to be a relax day?

Debating greeting a rental car instead of Mears so we have freedom for Friday. But if there is enough to keep us going and not bored I would be happy to stick with Mears.

the deluxe hotels have a car rental agent on the premises.
you could do a car rental for one day.

I guess with Disney I would think between resort time, Disney Springs, etc. there would be plenty to do to spend our last travel day. City walk seems much smaller and adult oriented. Is there enough to do around without s car that we won't feel trapped after 3 nights 4 days one of which being a park day? Of course keeping in mind we have you children so things move slower and even mini golf is adventure!

I think that you will be fine. Universal allows pool hopping so on your last day you could take the kids to a different pool. CBBR has a lot to do including several pools and a lazy river.

Could you do another park day?

Seems a lot of resort time, not always a bad thing but other than mini golf which I sure your toddler would love, Citywalk doesn't have a great deal else to do. There are some splash areas but it's mainly restaurants.

Other pools is a good idea or I would go with the rental car.............

It depends on your style. For me, that would be too much resort time. Others love having extra pool time - and you can pool hop as mentioned. I agree that I'd try to do another park day. It will make touring the parks more enjoyable if you have two days as well.

Another vote for another park day. You could be more leisurely and then not have days to fill.

Citywalk is exactly the same as Disney Springs. It's a MALL. It's a shopping center with food places and a movie theater. Citywalk also has minigolf. Yes there are clubs, just like Disney used to have, but unless you're there at night they aren't even obvious.

I don't know why. The 4 month old is going ot be happy because s/he is with his/her parents and sibling, and won't care at all about the surroundings. The 3 year old will have a BLAST in the Woody Woodpecker/Curious George/Fievel area, and all around the other areas. There might be some ride lines s/he won't enjoy while you guys use rider switch (at Universal it's done inside the ride queues, you don't split up your family for an hour at a time like at Disney), but distraction can work.

The pools are great but spending a whole day there with little ones is something I couldn't do. Exploring, citywalk, golf...and then right back to the parks for me. Or vice versa. Or both.

I like park days, I try and fit in as many as possible. When doing WDW I would stay for 14 nights and get a 10 day park ticket.

I don't get only doing one day at parks. I like at least 2 per park. Can't wait for September. I think this trip will be more relaxing than WDW.

At 3, IOA was my kids second favorite park, with only Epcot beating it out. Magic Kingdom didn't even beat it for them! This was true with all three of my kids. A little over 2 years ago, we spent 6 days just for IOA/US and my youngest was 4 years old. When you really think about all they can do, it's quite a bit. Rides are just one small part of the things they can do.

Our youngest was 4 when we went to Universal the first time and honestly she liked it more than Disney. She loved the shows and spent a ton of time at Fievals play area. I had a hard time getting her out of there.

There really is a ton to do at Universal and it is easier to get around as well. You can walk between both parks with Citywalk in the middle. No waiting for shuttles. IOA has Superheros as well as a great Seuss area.
