Is there such a thing as too much Disney?

We are a little more than 2 weeks away from another week long trip to Disney staying @ Pop. This will be our 3rd trip in the last 12 months, and our last visit was the week before Thanksgiving '09.

My kids are 7 and 5, it will be my 7 year old 10th trip and my 5 year old 7th trip. I myself have lost count, I think for me we are talking between 35 to 45 trips.

We live in NW Ohio on Lake Erie only 1/2 hour away from the Greatest Amusement Park in the World Cedar Point. We average maybe 20+ trips a year to Cedar Point. So it is not like we are lacking when it comes to going to parks, we also go maybe 5 times a year to Kings Island.

Are we nuts with all these trips to Disney? Is there a limit? I know my kids are spoiled, I try to tell them most people are lucky if they get to go once in their lifetime. We live in a small farm town, were most of the people never leave the state of Ohio.

I always say this is going to be the last trip to Disney for awhile, and the next thing I know I am booking another trip. Is there a program like AA for Disney addicts?

I'd say for someone as far away from Orlando as you are, that you may have a problem here.

But hey, if you can afford it and you arent doing it running up credit card debt, then god bless and keep at it - there are certainly far worse addicitions to have than WDW.

Great response -- couldn't agree more.

One of our best friends here (central Alabama, close enough to drive easily there) has been at least once a year since she was born, more than once most years (she's in her late 30s now). But she (and her family, before she was grown) can afford it and other things aren't suffering, so why not?

Once grown, I never intended to go back at all until my youngest child was at least 6yo... my oldest is 6, the twins are only 3, and this will be our 4th WDW trip so far as a family. :guilty:

No such thing as too much Disney. As long as you can afford it why not.

If we could afford it, we'd go more often! Why not? It's your money, so as long as it's making your family happy - then do as you please.

We've been twice with the kids, and my son has been once more with a friend of his. He's always saying he wishes he could go back. I tell him that when he's a man, with a job of his own, he can take ME.

I wish I could go that often, but the wife would most likely put a pillow over my face while sleeping:lmao:

Because there's so much to do there, then you can never get enough Disney!

We always went twice a year, then when our DS was born we took a break. When we felt they could both handle it, we took our first family trip in January 2009 - the kids fell in love and DH and I remembered why we love it so much too. Then we went again August 2009 (2 weeks, 2 hot), February 2010 (1 week, too cold and wet), and have trips planned for June 2010 (make-up for Feb plus MSEP!) and December 2010 (first time at Christmas) (Yay Pin!)

We always pay cash for everything and drive from PA so our transportation costs for 3 trips equal flying for one.

There's plenty of things to spend that money on, but our kids will only be young once and we are making so many wonderful memories.

Yet the only people who understand are other addicts. That's why I love the DIS.

As long as you all enjoy it (and of course can afford it) it is fine. I know people who spend ridiculous amounts on things like designer clothes, purses, expensive makeup, etc. Priorities are different for different people.

We go to WDW every year, as well as local amusement parks, too (Kings Dominion fan here!) We would go more if we could afford it, and could spare the time off from school/work.

If you are worried about it being too much Disney because of what other people around you are saying, then don't worry about it. My friends can't believe we go every year- I don't ask their opinion about it. ;)

Being from Northwood, OH (and also being a Disney freak) I understand your dilema! My sister, my daughter and I all LOVE Disney and would go several times a year, if we could afford it. So, we save up for a year and then take a week long trip.
In my opinion, Cedar Point is not the same as WDW. It's like trying to compare apples and oranges. We don't like roller coasters and that's pretty much all Cedar Point is anymore so we really appreciate all the other types of rides and attractions at WDW.
Like all the other posters said, if you can afford it why not?!

Too much Disney??? Never! ;) Actually we are pretty close to Cedar Point too, we love that place. The Millennium is by far our favorite ride anywhere, although the Dragster is pretty cool too. We love the 300-400+ ft coasters but they have so many other great coasters and thrill rides to choose from too! We just returned from our 3rd trip to Disney in the past 12 months. We would go more if we could and it's just my wife and I. We love it. I would look into DVC, especially as often as you like to go. We became DVC owners after our 2nd trip and wish we would have done it sooner. :)

If there is-don't tell my husband! Got the vacation club in February and made a trip then with my sister and son. , going with all 5 of us in July, and just booked a long weekend for me and my son for Food and Wine- last minute! I was looking at the Eat to the Beat lineup and thinking to myself-"wouldn't it be so cool if Howard Jones ever played?" And there he was! I asked my husband if he wanted to go-nope-my 16yr old daughter-nope- I asked my 20 yr old- wanna go- without missing a beat he said yes! Whoo hoo! I have no problem working extra to go! I have created a monster. Of course I really got it for my 17yr old son with down's- he loves it there and my heart will probably make me take him in October! Can' wait!

Amusement parks (particularly Disney) are such a great way for a family to have fun together. If you can afford to make lots of happy memories with your kids, go for it. I don't think you need a 12 step program yet. :)

Ohh, no worries! Your money, your time, do what you want! :) I will go on any vacation, doesn't matter, ask me, and if we have the money, we are in. Our Disney trip is out of no where really, as I was thinking we would wait another couple of years to go, however, I couldn't make myself wait.

By the way, I live in Georgia, and I love Cedarpoint! Thank goodness for family that lived close by growing up. I  roller coasters!!!!
