Too many days at Universal?

I keep seeing that most say 1-2 days between the 2 Universal parks are enough. Since last year we did Disney we plan on doing only Universal this year (except for one night at Mickey's Christmas party)
We planned on 4 days with no park-to-park and will be staying off site. Not getting the express pass either. None of us have been to Universal and daughters are very into Harry Potter. Will 4 days be too much?

I think 4 days is good. It will allow the girls to have enough time in both sides of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Since your girls are very into Harry Potter please be aware that since you do not have park to park you can not ride the Hogwarts Express. The attraction loads in one park and unloads in the other so a park to park is required for riding.

I stay two weeks onsite and it works for me
Never bored and always have something to do each day
I hit all the hotels to visit, do city walk and check out other hotels for activities besides the parks

And this stay at the darkside is coming after I have stayed at the motherland for 6 nights

There are some of us that make UO a total relaxing, no rushing vacation

Vacations for me do not include rushing from ride to ride and call it all done

Thanks! Yes we know about not being able to ride Hogwarts Express. Due to the crappy Canadian dollar it came down to either the Christmas party or park-to-park and Christmas party it is!

Another question... since we are going from November 5th to 12th it looks like Disney will be quite busy with Food & Run, the race and Jersey Week. How will this effect Universal?

Jersey Week affects both Universal and Disney. Food and Wine and the Wine and Dine run won't have much affect on Universal.

Our first trip was two days, then four, then seven and this year is 10 days. Like WDW, if you look deep enough, there is much more to experience that is not just rides. Have a fun 4-day trip!!!

We did 4 days this past April and did 6 days in Nov/Dec. Those were full park days! We took our nephews who had never been for April and originally just had the buy two get the third day free tickets for them. We know we like having more time but wanted to tailor the trip to them and didn't know what we would need. We ended up upgraded their tickets so we could do four days. We only had four days possible to do as we were traveling on the other days. It worked out great. There were still some rides they would have liked to repeat but they were able to do most of the rides and repeat rides on some of their favorites.

However, we did have park-to-park and that made it so easy to go back and forth between the parks. Though we enjoyed Hogwarts Express, we went back and forth so many times because of how easy Hogwarts express made it. I realize you said that money isn't in your budget, but if it happens to come in between now and then, I'd use it. Last I checked, a four day park-to-park ticket cost the exact same as the lowest level annual pass. (It has block-out dates but none when you're going). So, it could work out to saving you money if you decide to go back within the year. (Or find a hotel discount using your annual pass. To look up these discounts, use the code APH on their website).

4 days is definitely not too much!

You'll have time to enjoy the parks and not be rushing around trying to fit everything in, that can't be fun.............it'll be fine.....

We never get bored at Universal!

I am leaving next week for a weeks stay and it is my 5th visit that is that long..We love it and we are never bored

I've done a full week at Universal before several times and never got bored. Of course, I also find sitting on a bench and people walking relaxing at times.

My husband and I had four day tickets on our March trip. It was a very low attendance time of year (early March). We felt like we were basically done after three days, but we still enjoyed walking around and re-riding favorites on the fourth day, especially since it was our first trip.

When we take the kids in the next year or two, we're planning on three day park to park tickets, plus possibly a fourth day at the new water park.

I think four days would be too long only if for some reason you're not thrill ride people. There are many more "intense" rides at Universal than at Disney.

Can't speak for staying offsite.

Staying onsite, we like to spend 10 nights to experience everything and leave fully relaxed.

There is more to do on an UO vacation than just ride the rides in the parks

We've always done 2 days and then kept a day free during our trip so our boys can decide where they want to go....we could easily spend a week there!!

With no EP and no park to park, I think 4 days is a good amount of time. We always stay onsite so we have EP, and we purchase park to park tickets and 3 days is perfect for us. We can dedicate one day to each park for rope drop and re-visit our favorite attractions in both on day 3. Sometimes we'll add a 4th day if we want pool time as well.
