Too loud!

Carpet in high traffic/dinning areas just seems gross to me. Too many things get spilled, the carpet would need daily cleaning, probably annual, if not more often replacing. Wallpaper on the walls is pretty bad too, back in my teenage days I worked in fast food, getting ketchup/mustard of a wall is not easy. Unfortunately restaurants where families eat are going to be noisy.

Yep...agree 100% with this one. And also agree with the post that Disney won't do anything to adjust the noise levels, because if it was more comfortable people would linger longer...Disney is in the business of providing entertainment, and the faster the tables turn over, the more businss they can do. Which is fine by me when I'm in stockholder mode:thumbsup2

but I would like it a little bit more quiet when we're actually there eating:rolleyes1

I have never been bothered by loudness at Disney. When there is so much activity going on in a room, it just becomes white noise and I don't notice it anymore.

One other factor is the sheer size of the restaurants. Most of the ones I've eaten at are much larger than your standard suburban restaurant. The size means they can accommodate more people, and more people means more noise.

It's true of larger restaurants everywhere. I live in NYC. I've been in Applebee's and The Olive Garden (not by my choice) here - both of which are multi-storied affairs and considerably larger than those in Nashville, where my parents live. Even when those are packed, they are quieter because there are fewer people in them.

I haven't found the restaurants to be overly loud, unless there is a screaming kid at the next table, but other than that, its really not loud compared to any other restaurant outside WDW.

We didn't find any of the restaurants to be overly loud but then again we tune out a certain level of noisy due to having 3 younger kids at home. DS has super sensitive hearing and the noisy didn't bother him either because we have pictures of him sleeping through meals all around the world.

However, I do remember how quiet it seemed while we were eating at The Wave, Cape May and Narcoossee's so I would imagine that other restaurants could be considered quite loud to other families.

I too blame the DDP. Dining quality and experience have both suffered. As to the noise level - I don't think I've ever really noticed anything that I didn't expect.

I have to agree with you on some level. We had a 5 year gap in our trips and the difference in the quality and dining experience was quite noticeable. On our first trips, we could walk up just about anywhere at anytime of day and be seated right away or with a minimal wait. The food was out of this world at every place we ate and the service was exceptional. But in February, everything just seemed to be lacking. Granted the food was still good considering it was after all theme park food but it just wasn't the quality and experience that we remembered.
