We are going on the 4 night Wonder for Oct. 9 with my mom and step-dad. I am not planning on buying cruise insurance for my family, but my mom is interested. Is it too late to purchase it with our cruise being less than 2 months away?

Also, if it is not too late, where should we look for that type of thing?

TIA for any help!

You can purchase trip insurance up to the day before you leave (although not through DCL, that has to be purchased by final payment - no biggie as it is not a great value). Check out www.insuremytrip.com for an easy comparison of different companies' prices and coverage.

We cruised last Nov. and the week before we left (mom, me , aunt, uncle), my grandmother had to have emergency surgery. We were scheduled to get on the cruise on Sun. and she had the surgery the Sun. prior. I was in a panic because my mom and aunt, being the only daughters (they have 3 brothers), would not have left her if she was unstable. I got online and went to insuremytrip.com and found insurence there. I have an aunt and uncle who cruise quite frequently (10+ times a year) and they told me that I could forget getting issurance that close to departure. They were wrong, I was able. It seems like is was about $180 for the 4 of us. Of course it depends on age (they were all in their 50's, I was 25) so it could be less. Also it may be cheaper if you buy it more than one week prior to departure!! Good luck

Thanks guys! Appreciate the quick answers.

I'd add my vote for insuremytrip.com. We were in your situation a couple of years ago and found that the site was a good way to compare. One of the things you might be comparing is how each company handles pre-existing conditions. When we looked, it seemed that Travelex had the shortest period.

My parents are coming with us in January, and are interested also. Thanks for posting all this good info.

We already had connecting cabins, so added one of them to each of our rooms. Can they purchase insurance just for the two of them, or do we have to buy it for our entire travel party? Also, they're flying and we're driving, so we wouldn't need flight insurance. Thanks for your help!!
