Wasn't sure where to post this but here goes.... We are planning to drive down to Orlando from the Jersey shore this coming September.
After being on the road for 3 hours yesterday trying to get to the parents for fathers day I am rethinkning our plan. I was just wondering if theres anyone out there is Dis land that has already taken this route.:sad2:
How was it? How long did it really take? Do you wish you would have flew instaed?:confused3
Thanks all.

Hi I'm from Jersey and we used to drive there all the time!
Last time I drove there in 2005, it took 17 hours. We stopped in Jacksonville, FL the first night, so we only had a few hours to go the next day.
I'm supoer scared to fly, but in all honesty, it's really worth it to fly.. .you get there in just 2 hours, compared to 17... And with gas the way it is now, it will probably cost more to drive these days..
good luck!
Oh it looks like we'll be at Disney the same time!

Thanks for the help. I too hate flying and so does my one daughter. Other then that everyone else loves it. I have been checking out flight prices daily and they seem to me getting higher. Last time we went we also were there in 05 and we flew. I guess we will just have to wait and see how gas and flight prices are a few days before we go. Last time we were schedules to drive and at the last minutes, 3 days to be exact, the flights dropped big time so we flew.
Yes we are there at the same exact time, how funny?:hippie:

check out expedia and travelocity every day...
Last year we booked early and paid about $460 round trip on Jet Blue for me and DH... Then our friends wanted to go to, so we gave them our flight # and they booked months later and paid alot less than us! It changes daily... It's worth a try to keep checking :)
Have fun on your trip ;)

We only have a 7-8 hour drive BUT a lot of people fly from Atlanta. I factor in the hassle of luggage limits, driving to and parking ($) at the airport, need to get there early, possible flight delays, getting luggage once in Orlando, getting to the hotel (time & $) - someome else controling the times - and then the whole thing in reverse - a major being luggage - packing.

DH and I flew down once by ourselves. I'd rather drive.:confused3

We have been driving down for years. First trip my son was 5 months old. It is about 17hrs but if you take your time, leave early 4-5am. It's a nice ride. We stop, stretch and normally spend the night in GA. That's a long first day and second day not to bad. We leave later from GA after a nice breakfast and by the time we hit WDW the room is ready.

Yeah but still you're talking about hassles, but it's still less time than driving... My father drives us the the airport...we use magical express (Free!) and never had to wait more than 1/2 hour for the bus. The luggage is waiting in the room for us a few hours later.
Plus they do express check out at the hotel before we leave to come home... I love it!
