We are going to be at Disney World from June 17th-June 25th. This is the only time of year we could go, but now we are all getting worried about crowds. This is when school gets out so should we expect it to be packed? Should we take advantage on EMH's or are the parks more busy on those days? Just looking for some tips to avoid crowds... :sunny:

We have pretty much always had to go in the summer. No choice with work schedules. For us, it's a state of mind. Will it be crowded? Sure. What can you do to beat the crowds? We have used EMH (morning) effectively to get a few of the biggies out of the way. Fastpasses work well too. But, more than all of that is knowing your limits. We usually take a break in the afternoon and head back to the hotel. Whatever works for you. The first year I tried to schedule everything down to the routes from ride to ride and just made my wife and kids miserable. Hey.... it's WDW!

We're going at the same time and can hardly wait.

We're trying to quickly learn the acronyms here...what is EMH?

EMH - (emh) - Extra Magic Hours. Extra hours in the morning or evening for Disney Hotel guest.

We're at WDW now. The crowds are larger than we expected. However, by using fastpass and getting to the parks early we've been able to do everything we wanted. The only true nightmare was EMH evening at MK, YIKES!!! The lines were horrrible and there weren't any fastpasses. If you do morning EMH plan to leave that park by 11:00 AM at the latest.

i just got back this week, and the parks were very crowded in my opinion. fastpass and good planning certainly helps a lot though. and bring a lot of patience.

as far as EMH. i felt that MK was much much more crowded on the EMH night. i went to MK every day on my trip, and that night was probably the worst. the park started to thin out though around 1am.

It's going to be Hot and it's going to be Crowded. However, you're going to Disney World-- so enjoy. Plan well w/ some flexibility. Use FP as much as possible. Be sure to have a few ADR's. These will all help make the crowds not that bad to deal with.

We went this weekend and are going back for 4 days Wed. The crowds were huge. However, yesterday, I took my 1 year old to MK while Dh and DS(11) went to MGM. MGM was crowded beyond belief. MK was empty. I guess everyone with stollers didn't want their strollers to get wet. It was so empty there yesterday that we got in the park at 9am and rode the following attrations and ate lunch before 1pm:

Dumbo, Peter Pan, Small world, Philharmagic, Haunted mansion, jungle cruise, Pirates, Tiki room, transit authority and ate at Pecos Bill's. There were hardly any lines, just walked right up!

Lesson learned---don't stay away from the parks when it rains!

Subscribe to www.TourGuideMike.com right away, and you won't wait in lines for more than 10-15 minutes, even when it's packed!

We were skeptical, but now we won't go without his advice.

Highly recommended.

We just returned ourselves from a week at WDW and yes, it did seem a little more crowded this year for some reason. We just did what others here have suggested -- use FP wisely, take a break back at your resort in the afternoon, pace yourself and remember that this is a vacation and that you shouldn't be pushing yourself to the point of exhaustion. The heat here in Florida can get to me, and I have had a few years to get used to it. When we first moved here from NY I thought I would surely melt into the pavement at WDW in the summer. Drink plenty of water, wear comfortable shoes and go back to your resort to relax in the afternoons.

Also, remember that even though the kids are getting out of school up north around the last few weeks of June, the kids all over Florida got out of school at the end of May.
