Hi!
Can anyone tell me how bad the parks are the week between Christmas and New Years? Am I crazy to book during this time for next year? I would love to do Christmas and NY Eve at Disney...but wonder if the long lines and crowds will make the trip not so enjoyable....
Thanks for any insight.

There is no doubt it will be busy. So far this year is sounding like it may have not been so bad so far. Last year at this time there was almost daily reports of MK closing by noon.

Well, two days ago MK closed for day guests. Yesterday MK and AK closed to day guests. This is the busiest time of year.

This is our first trip to Disney for Christmas. I doubt that we will do it again. I guess we have just been spoiled by being here at off peak times.

The crowds have been heavy. I kept thinking "boy am I glad that I am not here for the first time" and "We will ride next week when everyone else goes home."

The week between Christmas and New Year's is the absolute busiest week of the year at WDW. Expect MK to close at capacity several times, with MGM and possibly DAK closing as well on some days. Wait times will be long for everything from bathrooms to rides to counter service food. Walk-ups at restaurants will be impossible to get, so be sure to have PSs arranged before you arrive. Many people enjoy the "crush of humanity" that fills the parks during this week, but if you want to enjoy the parks and see all the rides and attractions, you should choose another time.

My wife and kids are still down there (I had to return for work). She said yesterday they were parking cars on the grass around the parking lot at AK!

I just heard on the radio (I live in Tampa) that the "parks" (I'm assuming they were referring to MK) have been closing by 10 am the past two days and that the backlog of people trying to get in has backed up I-4 and caused massive problems for Orlando traffic. Yikes!

DH and I were supposed to go up tomorrow for NYE and the weekend, but I think we've changed our mind. I was prepared for it to be crowded, but all these reports have freaked me out!

It's absolutely packed. MK has closed early everyday this week. If you're looking to experience "Christmas" at WDW, come in early December....you'll have a much better time. All of the decorations are up and the MVMCP is going as well as CP in Epcot. It's wonderful in early December. And you'll be able to experience in four days what it will take you seven to do from Dec 25-31st.

Thanks everyone...I don't know that I want to give up that kind of money to not be able to roam the parks freely...we usually go the beginning of March and have been lucky to not have to fight the crowds. I did want the Disney experience over the holidays but we'll have to weigh negatives. Thanks again for your input!
