Reviews on Tony's Town Square - should we save our TSM for another place/day or do this our first day in MK for dinner. We have 3 other character meals planned for the week, so just looking for a nice sit-down dinner.

Thanks!!!

If you are looking to eat in MK, "for a nice sit-down dinner", Tony's is your only choice. The other four TS restaurants for dinner give you three character meals and a sandwich shop (Plaza Restaurant). The Plaza is fine for what it is, but it sounds like Tony's is what you're looking for. We ate there for the first time last Dec, and it was a reasonably good meal. Nothing extraordinary, but nothing to regret either. You will be paying a premium for dining in MK, but if you accept that it's a nice place to eat.

On the other hand, if you don't need to eat in MK, there are lots of better alternatives. Since you don't say where you're staying, I'll just mention Kona Cafe at the Polynesian Resort, just a short monorail ride from MK.

A lot of people have written negative things about Tony's on other boards, but I think it's decent food. The real reason I like to go there is because of the location. We always go during the parade and sit outside...you can see the whole parade pass by, which is a big hit with the kids. Who cares about the food? :rotfl:

We're planning to eat there when we go in December; I know not every dining experience will be perfect, but since this is my first trip :yay: , I don't have any expectations!

It does get a bad rap, but thankfully, we tried it for ourselves and my family (especially my DDs) loved it.

We loved the atmosphere. We enjoyed the food as well. I loved my steak and the creme brulee. My DDs enjoyed their pizza and spag and meatballs.

You should try every restaurant once for yourself.

I liked Tony's. Our CM was attentive and I thought that the food was pretty good. I really enjoyed the dessert selection. MY family had mixed reviews. Some really liked it, some thought it was just OK. We liked the location though, I enjoyed the Flag retreat prior to dinner and then was able to step out and find a nice spot for Spectromagic.

This is one place I REALLY wish i had canceled and got an adr elsewhere. We went for our first time to WDW, and our honeymoon all at once, and I had booked this venue for my DH cause he loves the siamese cats. We went to dinner right after spectromagic. It took a while to get seated and it was NOT at all crowded. The spinich dip app my husband had was NOT good the cheese was relly tough to dip into as if it had gotten a bit cold and hardened some before it was served, the calamari app was good. The bread with dipping sauce everyone mentions I tried it expecting it to be good cause people said it was good dipping sauce and OMG it was HORRID it tasted like I had just dipped a small piece of bread into straight cooking oil it was the grossest taste I have eer had besides beverly at epcot. The main dishes were pasta and meatballs for DH, and the chicken florentina I believe was what it was called. The pasta and meatballs dh bearly ate part of it as he said it was not that good. My chicken was dry, and the cheese that was to be melted on top when she served it it was hardened and had that shiny look like when you leave melted cheese out to cool and it gets hard. I ate 3 bites maybe and we pretty much left full entrees on our plates. Dessert was tiramisu which had NO flavor to it at all, and the lemon cake which was still frozen in sections. All in all this is one place I seriously regret not changing out of our entire trip. Me and DH left pretty much an entire meal there and ended up getting something from Mara when we got back to our hotel. You can try it for yourself you may like it I was not expecting 5 star gormet, but this was just plain bad, and I don't believe we will return to Tony's.

I thought it was ok, my DD hated it. They do use unusual tasting cheese. It might even be goat cheese. Just not something everyone likes. Just ask what kind of cheese they put on the pizza if you get it. My daughter ordered a 4 cheese pizza and couldn't eat it. I was happy though. Service was great. Like another poster said, you should try the restuarants regardless of reviews. What is good for one may not be good for another and vica-versa.

Last January we had a wonderful dinner albeit cold. We were seated outside on a rather cold night. They had heat lamps so it was ok. Our service was excellent and our food just fine. Sure there are better restaurants but we had a very enjoyable evening.

Just after we were served the parade came by directly in front of our table. Couldn't ask for a better dinner experience!!

My husband and I didn't find it nearly as bad as everyone said it was going to be. The CM's were great. They decorated our table with confetti and streamers! (it was our honeymoon!) We really enjoyed the atmosphere. I love Lady and the Tramp so I was thrilled with the theming!

The food is pretty much like Olive Garden. It's not the best Italian food, but it's not inedible either. We liked the spinach dip,The pizza is pretty good, and my husband didn't think his chicken parm was that bad...honestly the desserts were the worst part of the meal for us. Not sure why really....we just didn't think they were all that good.

But mostly we enjoyed it. It's a nice place to sit down and soak up some Disney atmosphere!

Enjoy it! It's fun!!:thumbsup2

Tony's is one of my family's favorites! :goodvibes We only go there for lunch. My sons LOVE getting the mickey mouse shaped ravioli. My daughter always gets a personal pizza and my husband & my favorite is the "Tony's pizza" which is more like a flatbread. We always have a great experience there!!

Now when my DH & I dine alone, we head to the California Grill! Our favorite restaurant in all of WDW :cloud9: .

Tony's....Tony's.....Tony's.... :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
We've never had a bad meal at Tony's Town Square. We have two ADR's for Tony's (lunch & dinner) during our next trip to the MK in November! :wizard:

Well if your looking for a nice sit down dinner TTS is not it. We ate there last August and it was so bad. The food tasted like something you would get in a hospital cafeteria. Now I might be biased being Italian, living in a area where ther are many excellant Italian restaraunts, but I would skip it.

We thought Tony's was... OK. The food wasn't that great, but still somewhat enjoyable. Great atmosphere- very quiet and pretty. The employees were nice. We even found a hidden Mickey ;)

The dessert was AMAZING. This was our last meal of the vacation, and we were trying to use up TS credits, so we ended up having 4 desserts, all of which were fabulous.

So, in short, Tony's was great, except for the main course.

tonys is such a cute place with a wonderful atmosphere. but the food could choke a pig! such a shame cuz it is sooo cute.

We were just there 6/10, and everything was very good! Some things that really stick out are the butternut squash soup, and the stuffed eggplant. We also all (9 adults) loved the tomato oil for the bread and the yummy desserts!! Fifteen of us ate here and we had zero complaints!

I dunno what kind of bread oil they gave you guys, but when I dipped my bread in it to find out what everyone was raving about as far as the dipping oil it dang near made me want to choke I had to grab my soda and try to get the taste out of my mouth. The oil tasted like someone threw some old cooking oil straight cooking oil onto our dipping plate it was nasty. While yes theme was cute we were on our honeymoon also and got no confettite or streamers. The girl was nice enough, but slow and it was not a packed or even half full house. I just wouldnt go back even for the theme. the calamari is great, but overall that was the only good thing besides my diet soda. I seriously seriously regret not changing that one.

We will be eating at Tony's on our July trip. I've never tried it and am getting a bit nervous now after reading about the food. How is the kids menu? DD3 is such a picky eater. Also is it easy to get a table outside? I've read that it's a great place to watch the parade.

my ds is very picky too. i think he had the fruit platter and the pizza (both on the kids menus at the time), he ate both. i got the meatballs and pasta and almost died eating it (it was that bad) but i still amazing enough had a great time there even though i left hungry! yes you can sit outside and watch the parade. maybe order something safer like a salad or something. some people really like it. i can't comprehend that but hey...i think it is because i am from chicago and we have really really great food here. so i am used to the best. :snooty: and i expected alot from tonys. i would still go again but i would NOT order any pasta or meat. like i said before it is a very cute place. (get there early for dinner because it fills up fast.)
