My husband & I want to do eride night on 5/17. Well, it is our anniversary trip, so my 1st thought was a castle dinner before eride night. Nothing available! So, I booked Tony's at 8pm as a backup. The problem is - I keep getting all of these bad reports of Tony's, so I am thinking maybe I should do dinner at a monorail resort. I am leaning toward Kona, but I am not sure. What would you do?

Well, since your choices are my favorite and least favorite restaurants, I would have to go with Kona Cafe. In the past year and a half, we have had dinner there 3 times(take out lunch of sticky wings twice and breakfast twice) and never had a complaint. It is wonderful. Tonys we ate at once(it was a while back though, 1998) and we wont be going back. 18.00 for nasty spaghetti just doesnt cut it for me. Plus at the Kona you have the added advantage of being able to get an adult beverage as opposed to anywhere in the MK. Not that I need a drink, but for a nice dinner to celebrate something like an anniversary, I think a drink would be nice. ;)
Whatever you choose, enjoy and happy anniversary!

Thanks for the well wishes! How much time do you think I should allow for dinner at Kona? I am trying to figure out what time to make my PS since eride night starts at 9:30...

We are usually in and out of there within an hour, but we are quick eaters with 2 young kids so the quicker the better for us. Once we had 8:10 PS and made it out to the beach in time to see the EWP at 9:00 and once we had 5:00 PS and made it out by 6:00 in time for the torch lighting(ended up not having that night anyway). If you like to have a leisurely dinner, Id book it about 2 hours early and that would still give you time if you werent seated right away, and time to get over to MK. Or maybe even earlier, since you could always go to MK earlier than 9:30, but you wouldnt want to be late.

I recently ate at both restaurants and all I have to say is KONA,KONA,KONA!
It is awesome. Tony's is okay, but Kona is fantastic. Then just hop on the monorail to WDW.

...another vote for Kona!!! Since I'm from the NYC metropolitan area (AND married to an Italian!) Tony's absolutely DOES NOT MAKE THE GRADE when it comes to Italian food!! YUKKK!!! I'd sooner eat spaghetti at Pizza Hut, which also has pasta that's better left untouched! (while at Kona, don't forget the fresh pineapple with caramel sauce ~~ YUMMY! Or is that Ohana's??)

I've never tried Kona, but that's my vote! Tony's is too blah to recommend. We did not care for the food. Many people seem to like Kona's, and you could get dessert and coffee after your meal too! The coffee is said to be delicious! Enjoy:D

I would definitely choose Kona Cafe--dinner there is outstanding! By the way, I will be eating right next door at 'Ohana on the 17th of May (we'll also be going to e-night). :)

ok ok ok!!! I've switched my PS to Kona at 7:40 .............that should give us enough time to get to a 9:30 eride, right? I am REALLY looking forward to a meal at Kona - I'm going to go print out a menu now! :D

Great decision! Yes, I think you'll have plenty of time.

You can take everything CamColt said and put my name on it as well--but add much better service at Kona as well :)
