HI,

I have reservation at Tony's for dinner on a EMH morning day at MK. I really love lobster and was thinking of switching ressie to Capt'n Jacks. Can you compare these 2 for me? I was also thinking that I didn't want to be at MK in the evening that day since it is EMH and tends to make parks busier. At the same token, I want to see Spectromagic and that is the only day it is offered that week that we can go, so in order to see that we would need to go back to MK. Seems like a lot of wasted time to start at MK that day, then go to DTD for dinner and then back to MK before 9PM show. :confused3

Can someone help me make up my mind LOL? I am going for 7 nights, but I also really want to go to the other TS that I have planned like Spoodles, Wolfgang Pucks, Le Cellier and Concourse Steakhouse.

We've eaten at Cap'n Jacks twice and had excellent food and service both times -- including the twin lobster tails for 1 TS on DDP.

Cap'n Jacks seems to be a love it or hate it place, and you'll mostly get reviews at the opposite ends of the spectrum. For us, it's been good and we're going back a third time in May...for the lobster.

We ate dinner at both places on our trip May 2006. We liked Cap'n Jacks MUCH better than Tony's. A lot of people will disagree with me, but I felt Tony's was the worst meal on our entire trip.

I haven't been to Tony's in years so can't comment on that even though we liked it way back then. We went to Jack's last week. There were 6 of us plus an infant. It took FOREVER. We showed up for our reservation and had to wait an hour for a table. A group of 6 was waiting for 45 minutes. Spoke to the manager with no help. The food was not very good with the exception of the lobster. We did get a lobster tail with all of our meals on the dining plan. That was good! Even with that deal, I would not go back. Overall, disappointed. I should have made Le Cellier for 2 nights!

I would go for capn jacks and lobster. We are eating there just for the lobster tails, as we love lobster! The photos I have seen of Tonys sauces looks like something that came out of a Jar with many added colors.:scared:

Doesn't just look like they came out of a jar, tastes like that, too! :crazy2:

We just ate there last week too. Tony's is just ok. It does seem like it came out of a jar like the previous poster said but if it is the most convenient place for you it is not the worst place in the world. Crystal Palace is.

We booked Crystal Palace because everyone I know recommended it as the best TS restaurant in MK. Was this not your experience?

I am so sorry if my comment scared you. Crystal Palace is very neat. The topiaries of Pooh and friends are amazing. We had a lot of fun with the characters there but noone liked the food. Your family may like the food. My family is very meat and potatoes and they don't try new foods. Its been over a few years since we ate there but my whole family stills cringes every time we pass it and make comments like "why are all of those people standing in line waiting to eat there?" It's a great character experience but the food is not so good. We stick to LeCeller, Concourse Steakhouse, Coral Reef, Romanos, Capt n Jacks, even Chef Mickeys only because we have picky eaters. Don't change your reservations if you have small children because of what I said. Just be sure to check the menu first. If you see something that makes your family happy, enjoy! Have a great time.

I guess the hard part about these two places is that...they are totally different. I haven't eaten at Capn Jack's, not yet at least, we will be trying it next time we are there. We have eaten many times at Tony's, and have never had a bad meal or service there. I don't go there for spaghetti, so i have heard that it's not that good. But they do have this wonderful eggplant dish that it to die for. We have been there with parties of 2, 4, 7, and 10...they have always been wonderful to us. I guess the biggest decision you have to make is what type of food you want to eat. Also if you want to see Spectomagic, you can take the chance and book dinner for during that time and hope that you get an outside seat.

Seeing that I am first generation Italian- American, maybe I should stay away from TOny's LOL:scared1:

:lmao:
I'm not Italian and have never been to Italy, but I just cannot imagine that this is what food tastes like in Italy. We just went there because my DD4 wanted to suck up a strand of spaghetti like the dogs on the movie "Lady and the Tramp"!

Haven't been to the other restaurant, but we had a terrrible dinner at Tony's in December. Service was HORRIBLE and the food was barely edible. We'd heard bad reviews, but figured we give the place a chance. WRONG decision. We will NEVER eat there again.

We went to Tonys a few weeks ago and it was the worst meal we had at Disney (including the counter service for lunches!) We were on dining plan and scheduled dinner at Tonys to watch spectromagic from the porch. They had lots of open tables on the porch, but wouldn't tell us if we could be seated there. There were open tables everywhere but a room full of people waiting to be seated. The worst part was the food! We each had something different and it was all awful. Even the steak was lousy. The only thing close to good was the tomato/basil/mozarella salad. I didn't eat at Capn Jacks, but it has to be better than Tonys!

Can you do Concourse on the Spectro night? Then do CapN Jacks on the other night that you have previously planned for Concourse? Would that be more convenient, saving you from going MK to DtD back to MK all in one night?

I agree with several of the previous posters - Tony's was terrible when my husband and I ate there last March. It's the first Disney restaurant I've walked away from disappointed, and we've eaten at many of them. Our food was worse than what you'd get at a mall food court Italian restaurant, and the service was awful.

To the previous person who questioned eating at Crystal Palace - the food there is very good. I've eaten there on four different occasions, and we have reservations for our upcoming trip as well.

Well I have not ate at Cap'n Jacks but we ate dinner at Tony's in December before the Christmas party and we really enjoyed it. They were super busy but our waitress was very attentive and even let me try two different soups even though only one appetizer per person is allowed on the dining plan. We both had the NY strip and it was very good. I would go back without any qualms.

Well the only problem with that is I also planned to spend the entire day at MK on the day we have ressie for Concourse. It is our first full day, and we wanted to hit MK first. ;)
