Ton's O' Pic's...again Deluxe Free Dining....mmmmm Food (9/2008)

Hello...again. This is our 4th year (in a row) for September free dining. This year we decided to live it up a bit. So we upgraded to the deluxe dining. The added cost was $300 for the 5 nights for both of us. We also stayed this year at the Wilderness Lodge. We had a standard room booked, but when checking in we got a free bump up to courtyard view. Already this was looking up. I had stayed here twice before, but my wife has not, so this was extra special for her. The previous 3 trips we stayed at POP century. I am not going to be listing the days of the meals since it's irrelevant. Most people just care about seeing and hearing how the food was.This was a LOT of food. We used the 3 credits a day each for 1 table service lunch and a 2 credit signature dining. PLUS the 2 snack credits each daily made it tough
but we managed to leave no credits behind.
Also I eat meat, I am a meatetarian, my wife is a vegetarian. So I will have her comment on her meals for any vegetarians.

Just a little FYI, we took the
tour at the vacation club after seeing the invite in the room, they give
you a $100 gift card right there at the end of the 90min tour to use. We
took it the 2nd day there first thing in the morning so we used the free $100
the rest of the trip. Well worth it.

Good,tasty,basic fresh danish. hits the spot for a quick junky breakfast

descent,very beefy mild chili, good snack credit though

very moist and chocolaty ,MMMMM good

OH MY, SOOOO good. I recommend this highly. LOVED it. Holy crap was
it good.

It's frigg'in fudge, how could it not be good. YUM,eat it. YOU'LL LIKE IT

KIDS CHEESEBURGER

Paid out of pocket for it. I just wanted to try it, nothing special.
I am a HUGE burger eater,so this one is one to skip.

SLEEPY HOLLOW:
CAPPUCCINO FLOAT

This was very good and refreshing. I don't like coffee and I never drink it, but I like coffee flavored ice cream and frozen coffee drinks.

SUNSHINE SEASONS SNACKS:

APPLE FLAN

It was a little different than apple pie, but not to bad.

CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE

This was given to use for our anniversary, but it was not a good tasting cookie. Good thing it was free. We tossed it in the trash. Oh well.

CHOCOLATE LAYER CAKE

This was very good and moist, just the way I like it. MMMMM cake.

KEYLIME TART

My wife liked it but I am not a fan of keylime, it was just OK for me. Nothing special

We loved this, a very refreshing & light breakfast snack (don't ask)

Not really food, but it goes with your food, We like the look of the napkins & cups, so Oh well.Enjoy

MINI POWDERED DONUTS

SO FREAKING AWESOME, holy crap I can't believe I never knew of these little morsels of perfection. We had them with the white chocolate dipping sauce.HIGHLY recommended if you like donuts (if you don't your not a true foodie, so stop reading this report.) WOW WOW WOW, thats all I can say.

Cinnamon roll

As good as previous years, never a let down. Enough for 2 to share for breakfast, HA "breakfast", yea right.

The dip is great as usual,the chips were a little on the stale side.

I have had better in past trips, nothing bad but they were just better last time.

OREO SHAKE

Just damn good, Love the shakes here. We both had one as our drinks.

SHRIMP PASTA (SHRIMPS ON THE SIDE)

WIFE: This pasta was terrible. It was the only thing I possibly could eat as my entrée. It was oily and gross, BEWARE!!!! ME:
I liked the shrimps dipped in the spinach dip, YUM and YUM

I like the burgers here. Filling and tasty, cooked like I ordered.Yum

It was good, nothing special, but tasty.

BREAD BASKET

Nothing special, but a good selection of breads.

CAESAR SALAD

I LOVED this salad, the waiter goofed up and told me I could get this as my
appetizer and I found out I shouldn't have been able to get it. But I am glad he goofed, It was really good, but they must be on crack to think they should charge $16 for a SALAD! WHAT are they thinking??? But it was great.

MINASTRONE

WIFE: It was very tasty and filling soup. I was stuffed afterwards but still managed to eat more.

PASTA PRIMAVARA

WIFE: It was a great pasta dish. I was very happy with it.

CHICKEN CUTLET MILANESE

This was chicken nirvana.OH MY, I LOVED it. It was hands down the BEST
chicken cutlet I ever had ( i have had MANY). I did have a gravy boat of red gravy (not shown) and that was heaven also. If you love chicken GET THIS.
Don't even consider any other dishes, trust me ( you don't even know me)
but trust me anyway. if you don't love it I will refund your money (yea right).
SOOOOOO clucking good.

CANNOLI

It was good, I have had better in south philly ( im from philly),
but it still was descent. the shell could have been crisper, probably prestuffed?

COPETTA SOTTO BOSCO

Again it was good, nothing special, certainly not worth the $14 drug dealer price. I have no clue to why it would even be priced anywhere near that price. maybe they owe the mob money...

All in all I LOVE it here. I have eaten a Alfredo's in the past and this BLOWS it away. Make a stop here if you want great food at HIGH prices...HA HA

PORK EGG ROLLS

WOW, a total surprise. I never had fresher and more tasty eggrolls EVER.
I don't know why they were SO good, but they were. I wasn't going to eat all 3 full size eggrolls as they were brought out but after biting the first one I couldn't stop eating them all.....get in me, all of you MMMMMM

FRIED GREENBEANS

WIFE:The BEST vegetarian appetizer EVER.
ME:I also liked them but only ate a few. They were very good as well.
Those little green fried yummy sticks, what a way to make a veggie unhealthy real quick, but tastier.

SHAOXING STEAK & SHRIMP

It was the 2nd best steak of my steak eating trip. I was very shocked.
I was expecting a tough & tasteless piece of meat but got the opposite.
Very good shrimp as well. I loved this dish.

VEGETARIAN LO MEIN

WIFE:The waitress was so nice, she made sure that this lo mein was cooked in a pan with no previous meat used in it. It was very tasty and not greasy at all like other past lo meins. Highly recommended.

FRIED WONTONS WITH ICECREAM

I liked this dessert the wife didn't care for it. It was different and tasty.

MANGO PIE

WIFE: this was good, it was nice and light. Great taste.
ME: I don't care much for mango's so I don't really care much for this.

We both loved this place. Very nice inside and a great window seat upstairs over looking the park. The waitress was wonderful and the best server of the trip. The food was outstanding and we didn't expect it going in. A must do every future trip.

CRAB CAKE

YUM, HOLY SHIP, This was the best crab cake I ever had.
Perfect crispy breading,nice crab chunks inside,great sauce.
Just perfect. If you love crab get this, OR ELSE!

LOBSTER CINCO QUESOS QUESADILLA

A very interesting delicious blend of food. I liked it very much, but the crab cake still wins.

LIGURIAN TROFIE PASTA

WIFE: This pasta was just OK, it was nothing special and a let down
considering the place. unfortunately this was my only choice.

NY STRIP STEAK & POTATOES

This was a HUGE let down. I had ordered it med.well and when I cut into it, the meat was raw! I flagged down the waiter (who was not very good) and he brought it back. It had come back completely burnt on the outside and the inside was dry like leather. So I tried to eat some of it but got pissed off and just left it. He seen I had not really eaten it and asked what was wrong. I told him and he got the manager. he treated me like I should have just accepted it and ate it anyway. Never apologizing or offering to re-cook another steak. So all in all my steak was not good. You
would think for a $42 steak they might want to cook it to order.

COCONUT SORBET

The waiter brought this out while I was waiting for them to further screw up my steak. The sorbet was good, light and refreshing. (yes I get annoyed retelling this story as you can see)

PINEAPPLE/COCONUT PANNA COTTA

It was just OK, " that's all I have to say about this."( quoting Forrest Gump)

CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER CAKE

This was very good. I don't remember the exact name and I couldn't find it anywhere, even on my receipt ( it just says choc.cake) But I loved it. If you like chocolate and who doesn't ( I see you, about to write you don't like chocolate, so just forget it put down your fingers and stop now, this doesn't pertain to you anyway ) order this.

All in all, I liked it the first time I ate here years ago. Would I go back here again? NO. The server sucked and the manager pissed me off so much, just on principle alone I would NEVER go back. So the hell with Flying Fish, plus it's not worth the 2 credits each.

I'm having such a great time reading your reviews - entertaining, yet informative! (and great photos). You don't mince around with words and get right to the point!

That steak at Flying Fish has me worried! I promised DH he could get a good steak there (for upcoming trip) and I could get a fish. More scary than how it was cooked was the "attitude". The peanut butter chocolate thing was under consideration for dessert and that does indeed look good, thanks for the recommendation of that dessert!
