I have been a stay - at- home mom for quite a while. (believe me, I know how fortunate I am) I have taken lots of short part time jobs like subbing at the kid's school, 2000 Census, etc. But I would like to get hubby cracking on builing a house (Mobile home living is the pits, even though it's a fairly new one) And I decided that the only way to get him moving is to take the reins mysefl a bit. He hate payments of any kind, and refuses to see that a morgage on a new home is not a BAD thing! He is an electrician, and handy at most everything, so we can do most of it ourselves, but saving the cash for it is going VEEERRRRRRYYYY SSSLLLOOOWWW. So, I decided to take my chances and become SOMETHING other than MOM. I enrolled in a Real Estate class. In Michigan, we have to have 40 hours of class time, and pass, in order to take the State Boards test. Everyone knows that I have been taking these classes in the evening, and expects that I will succeed. But it has been a long time since I have taken classes (I graduated in 1982) but I was not a real good student, then. Alot is riding on this. The respect of my family (I am tired of being the only one who is not "sussessful"), the future of our home, the admiration of my hubby (he is so proud fo me right now) and I want to be a good example for my kids (try hard to become what you want...too many sub-poverty-without-ambition-to-improve in our family an I don't want my kids taking the easy way out).
Well, tonight is my final exam. The questions are multiple choice, and we have a great instructor. I take my books everywhere. I am more familiar with them than my own hubby lately. I cannot face everyone if I fail. Most every job or class that I have ever done has resulted in failure. I cant let that happen this time. It's too important.
So, tonight, about 6 pm eastern time, be thinking of me. And a couple of prayers wouldn't hurt either.
Thanks everyone for being here.

GO FOR IT!!!!!!!!!

YOu can do it.

((((((((((((((((((Hugs)))))))))))))))))))

I'll definitely say a few prayers that you do well :)

GSL, I am a GSL too for 6yrs. And a mom of one the girls in my troop just did the exact same thing last year!!!
You are not going to fail and I am soooo envious you got out there and started doing it. Be proud!!!
Youngest dd hits 1st grade next year and I need to jump into getting my act together.
Sooo....here is some PD for you!!! (I sprinkled some one your pen too.)
Good Luck:D

That's great, GSL!!!!! :bounce: You sure have great motivation and you WILL succeed, I just can 'hear' it in your voice. Read each question, making sure you know what they are asking (seems simple but so many wrong answers come that way). My best wishes, along with a prayer said, for your acing the test. Let us know how you do.

Now take a deep breath!!! Tonight you can

Thanks alot you guys...
Its really kinda scary. A whole new life, really. And a big adjustment for eveyone. No more running to town at the drop of a hat to pick up something someone needs. No more spending the day in jsut jeans and t-shirt or sweatshirt. (hubby's looking foreward to that part.) Makeup? I had to borrow from DD14 to go the other day. Hubby works out of town...no more sneaking off to spend the day shopping and going to a romantic restaurant with him. Family vacations and weekend getaways will be alot more comlicated. If we can do it at all. Used to doing what we want on Saturdays..will have to work, now.
By the way, can anyone recomend a good place to get makeup advice?
It's a whole new world...

Are you one of those people that freezes on tests???
My sister was.

You need to stop thinking about failure. It's not going to happen, so stop worrying about it. You know the stuff, just relax and when it's test time, answer the questions. You already know the answers, you just have to fill in the little circles or whatever it is.

Start thinking of what you are going to do afterwards, think about that new home of yours. :)

And even though you don't need it, goodluck. :)

You need to post a new thread about makeup. You will get lots of help. I know a little myself. lol

You can do this. Try to be calm (easier said than done). I know it's a little scary but I'm convinced you are going to be fine and do well. {{{HUGS}}} sweetie, I'll be thinking about you at 6 tonight, thinking positive thoughts!

GSL,

I too am a stay-at-home mom and have been taking night classes on and off for lots of years. I'm working on a teaching degree...mostly so I can make more money as a sub after my kids are older and when they're much older maybe I can teach full-time. I also do it just because I enjoy it...

I know it's intimidating...tests and all....but you sound like you're prepared so I know you'll do well!!! Good luck...I'll be thinking of you tonight!!

Let us know how you do!!

Hi GSL -
Just remember: one question at a time. It's OK if you don't know every single answer. You'll still do fine. If you have a panic moment, go to the ladies' room, get a sip of water and smile at yourself in the mirror. You'll do great. :D

Wishing you all the best tonight on your test! I will say prayers to help just a little too... just relax and I am sure you'll do fine :)

Hey GSL- You should probably be taking the exam around now! I hope everything goes well for you. Keep us posted.

What an inspiration! Taking the bull by the horns - so to speak.. :)

I'm sure you'll do fine and if not, then just take the test over again.. Some people freeze up when they take a test (like when I'm interviewing for a job and I have to take a keyboarding test - I just can't do well under that type of pressure yet my fingers fly over the keyboard at home.. :( ).. I don't consider it "failing" though - and you shouldn't either!

I'll say a prayer for you anyhow though and hope that all goes well..

When do you get the results?

Good luck!! :)
