I was going through Character meal withdrawl, and decided to try yesterday to see if we could get ADRs for this weekend, fortunatly, they had one table for two tonight at 8pm. DD and I headed to the GF when I was done work today. After parking in valet (I just love it... don't know why), we meandered around the resort, grounds (spent some time visiting with two mallard ducks) and of course the gift shop! By the time we were done it was till a bit early, but I checked in anyway, and within 2 minutes we were seated, about 20 minutes early!
When we were seated, we were promptly met by our server, Joan, who was very friendly and quick to bring our drinks. It was nice, as the characters were not right upon us as we were seated, and we had time to get our first course.
I had a little Caesar Salad, Tomatoes and Mozzarella, and Peel and Eat Shrimp and of course the yummy strawberry soup. DD had mashed potatoes off the "grown up buffet", and chicken legs, pasta with oil, a little mac and cheese, corn and brocolli. All of this was tasty and fresh.
Once I went back for the main course I had Pesto Ravioli, Prime Rib and Salmon. The chef planted what looked like 1/2 side of beef on my plate when I asked for Prime Rib. I could have fed a family of four with the piece she gave me! I went back to check out the dessert, and had a spoolful of bread pudding, and a little cheesecake tart. It was yummy. Tara had nothing! She was getting tired, and was ready to go home!
I was hoping to watch the fireworks and the Electric Water Pagent from the beach or dock... but DD just wasn't having any of it.... it's too cold, I'm too tired.....I never get to see the fireworks! I'm giving her NO-DOZE next time!
The buffet had so many choices, but it seems whenever I get to these things, I get so caught up in the characters, and picture taking that the food is an after thought. I know there is no way we get our monies worth... but the character experience right now is worth it DD9 is not going to be into this much longer, and sometimes now I think she goes along with it all to indulge me! She was happy that we added three autographs to our collection - we had never met "Cindy" or Prince Charming before, and I had only gotten a photo of the Fairy Godmother the other week when I was passing through a few weeks ago!
We met all the characters who were all very sweet and attentive - Suzy, then "Cindy" herself, Prince Charming then last but not least Perla. They were nice enough to sign an additional autograph and pose for an extra photo without my DD for a "Fairy Godmailer" suprise that I am getting together for a DisFriend I just made today. I think there is going to be one happy little girl when she receives this surprise! The Fairy Godmother (Tara says - she's too pretty to be the Fairy Godmother) was greeting folks in the foyer, and we visted her as well.
Extra experiences from the evening:
Tara and I enjoyed chatting with a sweet little 2 year old sitting at the table next to us - she was adorable, and did not really want anything to do with the characters, Including "Cindy" at first, but when Perla came around - she warmed right up and was so excited. I think the dad was more excited! He got that great "Kodak" moment of his little one kissing Perla's noise. I love seeing the little ones all wide eyed and in awe of all the is happening around them. They are going to CM in the morning - I wish I could see it.
I also spyed a DISer from across the restaurant - FlowersChild was there - I recognized him right away with his Flower sweatshirt. From reading his posts, he loves Perla and Suzy, and vists them often! It's a small world - last week it was Poohnatic on I-4 and now this.
Well probably more info than anyone wants to know... and if you got to this point - thanks for reading my ramble! It was a really nice evening, and I have no one else to share the story with tonight!!!
Next stop - MGM to track down some Power Rangers!!!!
