Ok, I keep hearing this mentioned.....what exactly is it and where can we try some? Thanks!

It is served at Kona Cafe at the Polynesian and can also be ordered from room service there.

It is a huge (maybe 3in.) slice of sour dough bread, cut in half crosswise and stuffed with bananas, deepfried and then covered with cinnamon sugar. Very rich, sweet and filling. We love it but half an order is plenty for me. We also never have syrup with it...already very sweet!

I just wanted to agree with and stress the very LARGE aspect of Tonga toast!!! It is very good, but it is VERY LARGE!

Large..yes...but I had no problems eating the WHOLE thing!:earseek:

Forgo the syrup though.

It is a great thing to split after your breakfast. We call it our breakfast dessert. It is Very yummy and Very rich. Give it a try!:D

I agree with the previous posters as to the size and sweetness, but it is SO good. Do not use syrup, it doesn't need it. If you have this at Kona Cafe and by chance go to The Rainforest Cafe for breakfast another morning while you are there you will see Tonga Toast on their menu also but DO NOT order it. Their Tonga Toast is just plain french toast with some bananas on top, good but not the same.

Boatwright's at PO-R has the same breakfast only they call it Banana-stuffed French Toast. It, also, is large, sweet and totally worth the 9,000 Weight Watchers points it must have!

TONGA TOAST!!!

Oh, I wish I didn't open this thread, now I've got to have some! I had that in December and absolutely loved it.

A tale of Tonga Toast: DW isn't much of a breakfast eater. On the rare occasions when she does have breakfast, the only thing she will eat is a waffle, no syrup. DW isn't big on bread, toast, french toast, etc. A couple of years ago, after hearing so much about how good this dish is, we finally went to Kona and tried it.
OMG:bounce: DW loved it:Pinkbounc It is now a WDW staple for us. I doubt we'll ever return to WDW and NOT have Tonga Toast.

I love Tonga Toast so much I can't even begin to explain it to you. We booked our Sept. trip a month ago and I am already drooling over it.

Some people say that this mouth watering dish is to sweet - and I say no way!!! French Toast w/ bananas deep fried with cinnamon sugar may sound like a heart attach waiting to happen but I just don't care. You need to live it up when you are on vacation!!!

You need to go and have it for yourself. It's at the Kona Cafe at the Poly and its a magical dish to start a magical day.

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's a picture of the Tonga Toast to really get your tastebuds revved up!
