I'm dying to try the Tonga Toast at the Poly :teeth:! I was told that it used to be offered at Ohana's. But when I look on WDIG.COM's menus, it only shows on Kona Cafe.

Can anyone tell me if I can get this at Ohana's for breakfast? I know we could eat a Kona, but I'd rather do Kona at lunch/dinner due to the fact that I would like to take advantage of the concierge offerings for breakfast on other days. We'll be going to the character breakfast at Ohana's and thought I could kill 2 birds with one stone...

I haven't been to O'hana for b-fast in years. But, trust me, GO to Kona Cafe and get the Tonga Toast,........YUMMMMMM

Oh, I'll definately be getting it! Just would have like to get it at O'hana's since we're going there anyway. But if I have to go to Kona, that's where I'll be..

As far as I know...you can't get it from O'hana's. I wanted it one morning that I couldn't get an early enough PS at Kona's though....so I ordered it from room service.

Oh no :( , I don't like the smell taste or feel of bananas!! I saw the tonga toast on the menu on some other site and I was guessing it was a type of french toast. Shucks :(

Just got a DC update and they have the tonga toast recipe-somehow I don't think I'll be able to match it, but I think I'll give it a try!:D

Sorry to be a downer, but I didn't like the Tonga Toast. Too sweet! A few bites were good, then it got kind of disgusting. The crunchy sugar on the outside was too much.

I think the problem is that it is deep-fried. I had it years ago (after reading about it) and it made me sick. It's very "heavy" although yummy. I guess I overdid it. This trip I met pals for breakfast at the Kona, and I ordered it again but proceeded with caution -- cut it in fourths and shared with my pals. It's a great meal to share with a friend. HALF a Tonga Toast did not make me feel like I had a hangover!

PS: I think regular French Toast in on the menu, too. And for the banana-texture-haters here, the banana in the middle is almost like pudding, really squishy. Whether this sounds yummy or gross is up to you!

Colleen,

GREAT idea! I'll split it with DS4 (DH doesn't eat bananas). I'll order it as well as some other items I'd like to try on the menu!

Thanks!

I have never had it, but have seen it many times - too many calories to even count! I think 1 plate of tonga toast might have the calorie allowance for an entire vacation. I do not count calories when on vacation, but that dish is not even worth it. Its a very large serving and very heavy (lots of carbs and sugar)- then to to out into the heat and on rides = :(

They do have amazing bran muffins and sliced fruit with yogurt with a bit of granola sprinkled on top - And you gotta have the press pot of Kona coffee!

I agree. That stuff was gross!!

Gonga, you are right on! I think no matter WHAT plan you are on -- Weight Watchers, Atkins, Zone -- Tonga Toast definitely blows it!

I am faithfully back on WW since getting home 3 days ago, and as I indulged in a half Tonga Toast, I have yet to face the scale. I tried to make "wise choices" all week, but the TT definitely was NOT one, diet wise!

We are BIG Tonga Toast fans! We think the best version of it is served at Boatwright's with the strawberry sauce. YUM!!!!!! I will NOT share my Tonga Toast! (Or Crazy Cajun as it's called at Boatwright's.)

Count me in the group that can not stand it. I had the version at Boatwright's with the strawberry sauce on the side. The actual banana stuffed french toast would have been good if the cinnamon-sugar wasn't about 5 inches thick. I tried my best to scrape all the CS off of the toast but it didn't work. That was by far the worst thing I have ever had to eat anywhere on WDW property in the 25+ trips I have been!!

My wife ordered Tonga Toast for the first time on our last visit and she just loved it. I think on our next trip we our going to split this because it is so huge, more than enough for two people.

I had the Tonga Toast at the Kona and absolutely LOVED it. This is a definite do over. I understand why some people absolutely can't stand it, but I'm not in that group. A word of advice, taste it BEFORE you put syrup on it. I found that it didn't need anything else. The waitress brought warm syrup but advised that I try it first and am glad that she did. It would have been tooooo sweet with it. Just clear out your veins before you go and enjoy a great piece of toast! Count me in on the Tonga Toast lovers list!!:D

Count me in among the Tonga Toast lovers! Can not wait to get another as we will be there in about 4 weeks.

Hey, LaWalz23, eat a piece for me pleeeeease!

Have a great time!:smooth:
