Is there a difference in the Tonga Toast at the Kona or Caption Cooks? It looks like a can save some much needed money at Caption Cooks.:)

subscribing.

I have the same question.

I also read recently something changed about this dish, a fruit sauce maybe poured on it? Can anyone confirm?

What's Tonga Toast? Please describe!!!!!

I'm a Tonga Toast junkie, and I can answer this question :teeth:

The Tonga Toast is the same at both locations - both very yummy!!!:goodvibes

Normally I get it at The Kona Cafe, and that's only because that's where the whole family prefers to go for breakfast - we love The Kona Cafe!!!!!:goodvibes

I have eatin the Tonga Toast out of Captain Cooks twice, and it was great!!!!:thumbsup2

Your are also correct about the price - it's alot cheaper at Captain Cooks ::yes::

What's Tonga Toast? Please describe!!!!!

Deep fried French Toast, stuffed with bananas, and covered with cinnamon sugar.:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Oh my gosh - I gotta stop talking about it because I"m really wanting it now, and I won't be able to have it until October :sad1: :sad1:

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ... we're going in a few weeks. I'll be sure to eat some for you. Thanks for the description ... def. have to try this!

I heard the rave reviews about it, so on our last trip we stopped by the Kona just so I could have it. My family is very accomodating, luckily, since no one was interested, lol. Anyway, I have to say that I was disappointed. I guess I was expecting something amazing, like the banana foster french toast you get at DL's Lilo and Stitch breakfast, but it was so-so at best. The french press Kona coffee was superb, though.

Don't you hate it when you hear outstanding things about something (food, movies, restaurants, stores), and you build it up to be the most wonderful thing ever, and then when you have it, it's not that great:guilty: I've had this happen to me so many times - especially with movies.

I"m sorry your Tonga Toast experience wasn't everything you hoped it would be :guilty: I've been a little nervous about the same thing happening to me with WDW turkey legs, so I've avoided them  Someday I"ll try them, and hope they are everything I'm hoping them to be.:)

I love:lovestruc Tonga Toast...I find the secret to it is to be sure NOT to put syrup on it...It is sweet enough in it of itself..they syrup would ruin it!

IMO, Tonga Toast is the best breakfast item in WDW!! I had it at least three times on our last trip, twice at Captain Cook's, and once at Kona's. They were the same except for the plate they were served on. Eating it at Captain Cook's is a really money and time saver in most cases!! :)

It taste the same at both places. Here's a picture at Kona's.

This thread is helpful to me also. Now I can cancel my ADR for Kona in May and just squeeze in a trip to Captain Cook's when I can; I had way more ADRs than I would like (I prefer tons of park time to a lot of food places crammed in one week) and I needed to get rid of at least 2. This helps with one. Thanks all! :wizard:

I've only tried Tonga Toast once (and loved it) but had to quickly share the story of how I ended up trying it...

I had planned my trip on here, but somehow, for some reason or another, thought that this meal was served at Boma at AK, not at the Poly...so we made ADRs there for the brekkie buffet and it wasn't there. I asked the CM who was serving our drinks/cleaning our mess if it had been discontinued and she didn't know what I was talking about...but came back 10 minutes later with a plate of it for me! Turns out she was curious and asked someone else who was like "oh...we don't make that here...but lets make it for her anyways!" so they did, I was very excited, and impressed because it was YUMMY (though I did get quite the sugar high / tummy ache....).

I've gotta say, its those little things they do that really make it magic for us...enough that we're returning for our 3rd year in a row :) (I always thought "you people who go to Disney every year" were weird...until now! This'll be my 4th trip since Feb 2006!)

I've wondered ever since, though...was it once served at AK as well? Or was I just REALLLLLLLY confused when making my ADRs and had the best CMs EVER?

It would make good sense for it to be served at AKL, wouldn't it? But, I think it's something unique to the Polynesian, so IMO it should stay that way. :)
