When we went to WDW last October, we went to Rainforest Cafe for breakfast one morning. Having heard so much about Tonga toast, I ordered it. Unfortunately, it really wasn't to my taste. Now I know that lots of people absolutely rave about it but the descriptions of tonga toast at Boma and Kona Cafe are different to how the one at RFC was.
The TT we had was really thick (about 2-3 inches). The outside was crispy, like normal french toast, but the inside was really spongy and puddingy and (this was the bit I didn't like) really slopy, like it had been soaked for ages in egg mixture. It tasted very much like bread and butter pudding that we have here in the UK, but not cooked very well. To be fair, it didn't taste like it wasn't cooked properly but it was soggy.
So, my question is, does that sound like Tonga toast at other places? Or should I give it another try some place else? I also thought that TT had bananas inside but this didn't (or not that I could tell anyways)
