Hi, I am considering buying the map on SD card - £54.99 from TomTom. I could then sell it on ebay when we return to recoup some of the initial outlay. DP thinks its a waste of money but I am thinking of the piece of mind when we set off from MCO for our condo - Fantasy World Club Villas and the stress after a long flight if we get lost. This could potentially be a nightmare start or am I worrying unnecessarily?

It does look easy to find looking at the directions.

I do need to make up my mind quickly as we go soon.

If you have an iPhone. Buy co-pilot live USA. £7 and gets you to your destination no probs. If you don't have that then having USA maps will be handy to have.

Let us know how you get on popcorn::

We bought just the southern states back when you could get them separately and personally I think it's a God send.

Most of the time I know where I'm going but where I find it invaluable is when you take a wrong turn, it gets you back on track like if you're on the I4 and get stuck in a filter lane having no choice but to turn off the freeway (happened on numerous occasions, especially when the big trucks are out) it's not always straight forward getting back on.

Don't know about the legalities but £59 seems a lot, is there anyone you can borrow from? Mine were download only so locked to my device I think otherwise I'd offer them. I frequently lend out the whole Tomtom to colleagues etc as I've got loads of POI saved now.

Thanks for the replies. I don't have a fancy phone, just basic PAYG so that isn't am option.

I think I am going to leave it and hope we get to the accommodation ok. The idea is to check in and then go to supermarket for food. How easy this is may determine whether or not we buy one there. The TomTom XL looks great for £50. I could easily sell it on ebay later too although it wont have UK maps of course. There is also a Garmin on the Walmart website that would only be about £35 so that is worth considering too.

For now I will resist the urge to spend

You should have no trouble selling it after you return at a profit. Exact same model sold on Ebay last week for £75 + del http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Tomtom-naviga...ics_GPSSystems_GPSSystems&hash=item3f096eeeca

I have no experience with Garmin sat nav, I do use Garmin GPS for Geocaching which is great but no idea what their sat nav systems are like.
