I'm honestly shocked DL has never had an international or domestic terrorist incident being that it is such an obvious target... and such a symbol of American culture.

I think they do a good job in balancing the need to provide oversight and safety with keeping the morale and perceptions of the visitors positive.

That said, it is bound to happen... eventually. And no amount of security can guarantee it could be prevented.

If I should parish while visiting the land, because of some nut job, I can tell ya all this for certain, I will be haunting you! And I will talk and talk and talk until you give yourself up. And even then while you spend the rest of your wretched life in prison, (Hopefully Pelican Bay!) I will still haunt you. So glad this turned out to be nothing. It also makes me want to comment on the whole bag check process. Personally, I don't feel like they are really checking anything. I've never seen them tell someone they couldn't bring an item into the park and I've never seen them really check thoroughly. The bottom line is that I feel like if someone wanted to bring something harmful into DLR, they could easily figure out how to get it through the bag check area. It seems like the bag check is perfunctory and maybe they're secretly checking each of us in some other way that we're unaware of.......OK, well maybe I hope they are.

I seriously agree... Bag Check is a waste of time. They need a better system. Someone could be packing something in their back pocket of their jeans under a t-shirt and its gonna slip right past security cause all they check is their bags. Its frightening to think how easy it is.

We were there at Tomorrowland also! We were in the middle of the ASIMO show and the speaker overhead was blaring to head for the exits.

I thought I dreamed this! I had the TV on overnight and swore I woke up around 5 and saw something about an evacuation at DL but went back to sleep. I told DBF about it in the morning and he told me I was crazy, dreaming about evacuations at DL. I must have missed this post, glad to here I was right!!

i dont understand why they would be making such a hectic scene about an unattended bag. I have personally stood there working in the parks in wdw when a security officer found an unattended bag. They called another officer and bomb sniffing dog in and they checked the bag. then after it was cleared they took it to GS. The only people that were asked to leave were sitting on the bench next to the bag.

I just couldnt imagine them reacting with heli, etc. unless it was an actual threat.

of course its better safe than sorry, so its all good.
