Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover - refurbishment postponed

According to WDWmagic.com, the refurbishment of the People Mover in Tomorrowland has been postponed and the ride will be open in February and March instead of closing for refurbishment on February 10, 2014.

I wonder what the large refurbishment for the Astor orbiters is going to all include. It sounds like that's why they are pushing it back.

I was reading earlier today that TTA hasn't had a long refurb since the big refurb of the last big refurb or Space Mountain but they didn't do much to TTA at that time anyways. Astor Orbiter needs a refurb to fix planets that don't move anymore and some other components. A long refurb for TTA is needed a lot of repainting, repairing, replacing things hasn't been done to TTA in a long time.

Good! The Peoplemover is one of my favorites. This way I'll prolly get to ride it in March.

Oooh I hope this is true! TTA is my 2nd favorite ride in WDW (after Living with the Land), and I was a touch sad that it would be down. We are only doing 1 day at MK...and only a very small fraction of a day, at that. I am so excited!

Yippee!!! I was totally bummed that it would be down. Between Splash being down, Lion King being closed AND the People Mover I was a little disappointed. Now, I'd be happiest if Splash reopened early, but I'll take the People Mover.

The people mover is a hidden gem. It isn't out there to "impress" anyone. It isn't out there to "wow" you with the latest and greatest technology. It doesn't NEED any new gadgets, or themes, or gizmos. It is pure awesomness because it is "Old school". It is THE PERFECT ride when you just need a break from all the "GO GO GO GO WOW " of the parks. It is 10 minutes of bliss and relaxation. It is a gorgeous view of the castle, of tomorrow land, and a chance to feel the wonderful florida breeze. Seriously people... don't #$^@ with the people mover.

SO glad to hear this news.
The TTA is one of my MK favorites.
It's so nice to sit, relax and take it all in while riding the peoplemover.

I hope it never changes and never goes away.
It's a tried and true favorite.

We LOVE the people over. I was royally p**sed when they took it out if Disneyland. My 6 year old daughter loves it, we ride at least 2-3 times each visit!!!!

The People Mover does NOT need changed. My hope is that the downtime is for routine maintenance only. On my last visit, I noticed that a number of the cars were unavailable. The operator would place an orange traffic cone in these cars to designate them as such. It appeared that these cars had excessive tears in the seat cushions. Even one of the cars that I sat in had a pretty big gouge in the seat, but evidently, it wasn’t deemed “bad enough” to be taken off line.

I actually do miss the previous “voice” of the people mover – the cheesy robot (not sure if he even had a name). I miss the “Tom Morrow” joke that was told as you were about to enter Buzz Lightyear. The current voice mentions Tom Morrow while inside Space Mountain, but it’s not the same premise.
