Mr. Hill says there are rumors floating around about an ambitious upgrade of Tokyo's Tomorrow land, where it is turned into Sci-Fi City. Some of the attractions sound like real upgrades that could complete the transformation of WDW's TL.

I love the Buck Rodgers concept in Orlando. What I don't like is that it is not finished...some parts still look tired.

Anybody else agree? The speedway needs updating BAD, and Space Mountain could use the HyperSM upgrade also.

The speedway need to be scrapped for the land it takes up (one of the, if not the largest MK attraction---check the photo below). It makes no sense where it is and it's way too big and loud and stinks. There is nothing "Tommorow" about kids driving go carts slot racing style.

I'm not sure about the SM upgrade. Other than overall apperance, would it provide anything to us that the same funds used elsewhere wouldn't be better served?

Looks like the announced rehab of the CoP may indeed be Disney speak "We're shutting it down, but we dont want to tell anybody". Damn. I know that the Carousel just isn't pulling in poeple anymore, but I will miss it. Hopefully they will find something creative to do with that rotating theater building that actually uses the buildings potential. Put the saucers in the Timekeeper theater and use the CoP building for something that better fits its design and capabilities.

If they made it all electric cars (read: quiet and clean) with a futuristic look, then I think it would fit ok. It's one of the classic attractions, and it's always been there, whether it's ever fit or not.

It's not as if WDW has any big plans for MK that would require the use of the land the Speedway occupies.

Hold off on the wake for a little bit, Hound. Jim Hill has an update on the COP status. It looks like it may be around (and cleaned up some) for a while longer.

But it's a popular attraction. For adults it doesn't have much appeal but kids seem to love it.

MK isn't running out of land, so it doesn't really matter that this one attraction is 'way too big'.

I agree it's loud and stinks.

The original question went to upgrades to bring TL into the Sci-Fi City theme. CoP and Timekeeper both are already closer to that theme than the raceway, they just don't get the attendance that the RW or any other TL attraction does.

I don't think that bandaid fixes can bring the raceway into that theme far enough to really make it fit. It needs a full overhaul something like ChrisFL mentioned.

On a side note, if land wasn't an issue, why mess with the CoP at all. Heck, make it a walk through museum and put new things elsewhere.

I think MK does have land issues. Moving outside the train tracks would be very problematic in most areas. "Just over the hill" so to speak is a lot of needed infrastructure that can't easily or cheaply be moved. Isn't there also a wetlands issue with the area behind Toontown & even the 20k area ?

The 20k area is a whole 'nuther issue. :) I've heard everyone discussing what is being done with the lagoon, but the ride building behind the lagoon is larger than the lagoon itself!

What is going to be done with that wasted space?

I'm thinking "Rollerball! A live 3d special effects stunt show featuring Luke Skywalker"

Thats good news. Looks like I may get to see it one last time on our trip this December.

They should film it and sell DVD's. I'd buy that in a second!

The Extinct Attraction Club probably sells one. I have had hit or miss experiences with them customer service wise (they shipped me several wrong DVDs), but the DVDs themselves are pretty good.

I agree that Disney should produce DVDs like this, but they have never seemedinterested in doing so.
