Why is the Autopia so, SO much better?? Is there any chance that WDW will be improving their cars? Does anyone know? My four year old LOVED Autopia (he was too young to remember or even discern the Speedway's inferiority)and I must admit I was pleasantly surprised. You mean, that steering wheel actually works?? And where were the choking fumes? :crazy2: (There was some exhaust at DL but nothing compared to WDW) No lurching, no getting bumped....the scenery, the ride, the drive, everything... BETTER at DL.

We are WDW AP holders and for our next scheduled trip I am bracing myself for being cajoled onto that stinking clunker of a ride (son can't reach the pedal). And now that I know how pleasant a ride it can be! Someone please tell me those vehicles are getting an upgrade!:drive:

I could tell you but I would be lying :goodvibes

In all honesty, while the Speedway may be past its prime, it was one of only two TL opening day attractions (the only one still operating) and other than name changes its been left as is. While an upgrade would be nice...I wouldn't count on it

I worked at the Speedway on the college program about 10 years ago. Although it was an amazing experience because of the people and Disney, the ride was terrible.

Constant slamming cars, gas fumes, burning hot with black pavement.

There is nothing about that ride that is fun. It takes up so much space, I think one day they will realize that it's overrated and use the space for something else.

I just read that Autopia/Speedway have more lawsuits filed than any other ride. I wonder why? BUMP...SLAM...NOSEBLEED :lmao:

That's what makes it so fun!

Then why is there nearly always a long queue, and happy riders coming off the exit?

Someone said they don't understand why it's in Tomorrowland. Because gas powered engines aren't very futuristic.

But they missed the point. It's not about the cars being futuristic. It's showing the kids their future of sitting in traffic on their way to work. :rotfl2:

We rode it on Sunday night for the very last time. Forgot what a terrible terrible ride it is and I swear the cars get slower very year!

I always exit these two rides with a sore leg (from trying to keep the gas pedal pushed down so that my car actually moves forward). Never again.

Kids are dumb? :confused3

Exactly! The kids were the WORST! They can't resist the temptation to slam anything and everything in their path....not that I blame them or was any different. :)

It's terrible for everyone else though.

I learned how to say "NO BUMPING" in about 10 languages. :rotfl2:

I don't think the Autopia at DL is that great. I was out there 2 weeks ago and rode it, it was very slow and jerky. I've never done the WDW Speedway so I can't compare.

It was changed. Several hundred feet of the track were removed for Goofy's rollercoaster over a decade ago. To me it reduced the value even more since waiting in the sun for 40 minutes now means a ride that is a few minutes shorter. :(

I'm not a hater or lover of the ride. I just let the kids drive and I'm like :hippie:

Oops you are correct! I was mistaken...thank you for pointing that out :thumbsup2...that being said I don't think its going anywhere soon cause as many have said its fun for the kids :yay:

Also, there was a much smaller reduction last year when they moved Dumbo.
