Tomorrow the Chicago River goes green again

As big a day as it is in Chicago, with a name like Murphy, and having been here all of my almost 60 years, I have yet to get downtown for the big one. Maybe some day.

I only went once, when my cousin did Irish dancing in the parade. And, my grandmother's maiden name is McClaughry! And, it was BITTER COLD!!! You're not missing nothin'!!

Thanks Dan for the memories!!!! I lived in Chicago for six years and never once missed the parade and seeing the green river. That was our favorite holiday while in college!!!

That's O.K. Dan...as long as the green BEER gets to you! I've only gone a handful of times...Back in the early 80's I remember a blizzard that hit...took about 6 hours to get home and as a band geek marched in one or two. Yep, ALWAYS freezing...hit the southside one as I grew up in Oak Lawn, but a Cub fan, not Sox now that parade has gotten crazy! Go at your own risk!

Whenever I was in Savannah GA for St. Patricks, they used to always turn the river green, but they haven't done if for the past few years. I miss it. I wonder why they quit.
