I understand where you are coming from. Not the DQ part, b/c they aren't my favorite, but Ritter's is closing for the winter. I was so depressed when I saw the sign in their window. This is the first time I have experienced an ice-cream place closing in the winter. Geez even pools close in the winter up here! That is weird since in FL if you wanted to, you could swim all year long. I only got hooked on this Ritter's thing since being here in Indy. I love it sooooo much. It is the softest, most creamy stuff in the world. I always have the banana split (minus the pineapple and strawberry, with hot fudge in its place and no nuts) or the Boilermaker (custard layered with hot fudge and carmel, minus the nuts). Yummy, Yummy, Yummy!

Disney845, that Boilermaker sounds divine!! But I'd have to have the nuts!!

It would be a shock about the pools, if you're used to a warmer state! When my kids were little and would go on business trips with us to Phoenix, California, San Antonio, TX, etc. - they would be amazed that they could wear shorts and swim in an outdoor pool in Feb.!!

I've lived in the South my whole life and only recently found out that they close ice cream parlors up north for the winter. Ours stay open all year. I can't imagine it being too cold to eat ice cream.

I can't believe someone else feels the way I do. I have until Sunday for the best DQ in my area. I am lucky though, we have one about 30 minutes that is open year round (it's not as good though). I always tell my children that is that saddest sight in the world - a closed DQ. They threatened to close it to put up an Arby's but the neighborhood put up such a fight they stayed open!
