With tommorrowland and the quests out, I would like to ask people what they thought of the quests.

Personally, I thought they were too hard to do first hand, and a lot of people got confused on some of the questions. For example, (and this happened to me) people got stuck on the Diver suit quest as they had no idea that the skull was in the same room.

VMK could be a bit more clearer in what quests to do first; it wasn't until they published the FAQ section that players had no idea that you have to do Autopia and Diver quests to do the space mountain one, and likewise that you had to do the diver quest to do the autopia quest.

I personally disliked the quests, but I would like to hear everyone elses opinions first.

I was confuzzled completely. Will try again later and find my opinion. Right now they are buggy, evil, yet fun (like Fort Wilderness!).
Hmm.

I think they should have released them one at a time over several weeks.

But then VMK never learns from it's past mistakes. Frankly I don't know how they keep their jobs sometimes. If they worked for me, I would have fired them for over designing for the kids it was aimed at. {not that I really believe it is aimed at kids anymore. They are just too proud to admit it}

Right now I still feel pretty lost with the quests, but I do enjoy these scavenger hunt type games. (Has anyone seen the movie Midnight Madness? I only know 5 people who have) I think, and hope, it gets better when I get the hang of it. How crazy is it going to be with everyone making their own quests? LOL

I have :bounce: , I have :Pinkbounc
It has a very young Michael J. Fox in it , He is one of my favorite actors.

And I like the new rooms a lot, There going to be a big hit!

Charstar* :cheer2:

I too like the scavenger type hunts, but some of the clues are so outrageously off base. The clue for the 15/16 thing of the mickey quest. that picture does not even begin to cover it. I can't even remember what clued me in. But, we were lucky when we started yesterday. I was on the phone with my sister as we were doing the quests, so we were talking each other through it. A buddy really helps! :thumbsup2

Even though it was EXTREMELY frustrating yesterday with all of the dc and the total slowness of moving ANYWHERE, I liked it :goodvibes . I have begun to get ( yes, I'll say it) -bored- of VMK these past couple of weeks, and finally something new and exciting has arrived!
My whole family was on it last night, and we were yelling to each, "WHERE'S THE SHIPWRECK!!!, I CAN"T FIND THE SHIPWRECK!!!, SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!!!" :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:
It was all too much fun.

I am TOTALLY overwhelmed with all the new quests and no directions to help. I'm just kind of wandering around Tomorrowland aimlessly, LOL! So if you see Pink with a dazed look on her face, point her in the right direction for me, ok? LOL

I think it's a great idea. Once the bugs are worked out, I think it will be a lot of fun. I managed the diver suit quest yesterday before it got really slow. I'm hoping today it will be all fixed up :)

In spite of all the frustrations from yesterday, I actually enjoy the new quests and tomorrowland in general.

However, I agree with a previous poster, they should have released maybe one or two quests at a time to prevent all the DC and bugs and time issues involved. Especially those that involve having to sell items for credits. Now many of us will have to try again and sell items for credits needed in the quests. I think I will wait on those for a few more days however.

In general, I found the whole thing exciting. I was at work when tomorrowland was released and quickly called my daughters who were both home on spring break. The rest of the afternoon was spent calling each other on the phone when we could not communicate in VMK and one of us got stuck. I can't tell you when I had more fun with them.

Well, i think that they are great. Sure, we wander around, and sure we all need and ask for, and try to help each other (well most of us lol). But remember, I dont think these were meant to all be solved in 1 day. Hey, after all these quests are done, theres nothing new in vmk for a while i'm sure. This was a lot of stuff, no reason to go nuts and finish it all in a day. sure it would be nice, but we have time. lots of time. I still think that helping and clues are fine, and as you can see, it still doesnt make us get it done super fast. So hang in there peeps, and you'll get them done eventually. :thumbsup2

LOL, yes, I am just as confused as everybody else. But that's what made it so much fun! I love a good challenge and Kudos to the design team, this was a challenge. My kids got a little frustrated but thats ok. Its a great lesson to learn perseverance. And lets face it, since when is anything that is easy to get valued? Just look at that stupid magic, Inferno. It is the least attractive of all the magics, but hard to get, so everyone wants it.

I think the thing I like most about the quests is that anyone can do them and anyone can win. I hate the games of chance and the random winnings because there is nothing you can do to get an item if you want it.

That's my $.02, anyone willing to raise me?

I was confussed at first, but soon figured out which I needed to do first...

I have no issues with being confussed (lol, how's that for a tag fairy quote...lol) I liked stumbling around and such... today I am ready to attack!!!

If anyone needs help, I will do my best to send you in the right direction.

In first look at tomorrowland you think, wow way cool. But once you begin the quest, if you can figure out where to start, that is another story. I went through and got my diver suit/pin, then went back and helped my friends get it too. PPl were actually standing and begging out of pure frustration for help. Beside the fact that the clues were very bad, why put the item on the ground where 100 ppl would stand? There were actually some that had their pins, came back to the quest and stood on the items on purpose. How wrong is that? I saw some poor girl in pirates that I am sure was in tears. And yes I helped her :) Please vmk lift the items from under mad stomping feet.

My opinion of the quests: Good idea, poor execution.

It was infuriating to me that the quest told me to find the room where the pirate ship could be seen sailing - okay, I did - then it said there was a skull nearby. I clicked on the skull rock in the background a million times and it never acknowledged my clicks; I clicked on the skull on the pirate ship's flag another million times and still nothing else happened. It wasn't 'til hours later, as I was reading this forum, that I found out the skull it wanted was a skull on the GROUND nearby - and the reason I hadn't seen it was that someone was STANDING on it. :-b (Not to mention the fact that the skull, as well as the other quest items, are translucent and pale and very hard to see!)

I think it's unconscionable that they made quests where people can STAND ON the quest items and block people from finishing the quest!

I think the engine that runs the thing is thought out very well.

Like everything else in VMK the techies have to get the lead out.

What will make this thing great is what makes our rooms great. Us! When we get our hands on the building blocks. Think about what they have really done here. They have created a world where we can create extensive puzzles and what have you.

They have extended our VMK world again, and we are just scratching the surface. The usability is a little rough at the start. It always is.

I can't wait to get BEST QUEST!
Hang In There everybody.

(Plus this will help to help VMK's stale problem, by adding more change than just a pin on Friday, and a ride on the weekend. Possibly New Quests on Thursday)

(Remember how bad Disneyland was on opening day, Ronald Reagan lost one of his shoes in the unfinished pavement on Main Street USA)

I'm with you, Pink. I recall plenty of folks saying they were overwhelmed by Frontierland. And I just didn't get that since there was relatively little to do in that new land.

But this land is all about "doing." There are rooms you can't even enter until you "do" something. And the quests are confusing. I tried the first one and then decided "I'll just come back to this when nobody cares anymore."

Pink, let's roam around dazed together, shall we?

Lobotomy, anyone?

Ricks (who refuses to be made nervous by virtual reality)

Well, I'm having fun. I'm not taking any of it too seriously. Like any game I play that takes some figuring out, I will take a break if I'm stuck and often the answer will come to me.

I think it's fun that all the quests were released at the same time. This ensures that you can't just follow someone else around, because they may be working on a different quest.

I have been fairly lucky so far not to run into people blocking the "hidden" clues. It's important to try to be considerate of others in this case. Please try to move as quickly as you can when you get the item. (of course there could be several items in the same place, so you might accidently block another - like atoms in the monorail) I have been moving around in advanced mode to try to find empty instances. This doesn't work though, in areas you can't select from the map.

I have been avoiding the spoiler threads here. It disappoints me that some people give up so quickly, but I'm the type of person who enjoys figuring things out on my own, even if it takes a lot longer. Each to their own.

The crashes and disconnects have been frustrating, but I think that is difficult to avoid when every single member is trying to log in and play. On the other hand, they could have soft-opened the quests somehow to work the bugs out. There is no excuse for having to edit the quests after they are opened to make them work. (In fact in their own FAQ's they make it sound like, only not-very-nice people close a quest while people are on it :lmao: )

So, definitely "Game" for me. Could be a few improvements, but I'm having fun.

I think tomorrowland is an amazing addition to vmk. The graphics are fantastic, the quests are challenging but alot of fun to try and complete and the prizes worth the efforts.

As an overall- I love the new stuff- the rooms look awesome and there is a lot of fun still to be discovered... did you know that disappearing reappearing clam in the the grotto and the shipwreck graveyard... it gives you credits when you walk on it- (yes you need the magic and it takes 5 minutes for the magic to recharge)- oh and if you are in there catching clams- and you start to run out of time it will give a line over your head and than teleport you to the air tube- isn't it nice that the magic doesn't let you drown at the bottom of the ocean :)

As for the quests- I love them- that sort of thing is fun for me- a challenge and all- but yes I struggled with some- and the finding things people are standing on is a pain too- but that will get better- once I figured it out- I just entered into empty or mostly empty rooms- and if people would just get in the habit of standing on the thing- getting quest and then moving away it will be fine... But the FAQ also says blocking these things is a banning offence- maybe when one or two or ten of the pains get banned- then word will spread not to do that lol

I do think the quests may be a little challenging for some of the younger players- there is no way my 8yo could have done those without some help- especially with it all being so new- and I have to admit that our DIS games especially Where in VMK and the A-Maze-Sing Race really helped me along in the quest answers...

I also would have liked to see just the mickey, animation and shipwreck quests this week- with next week adding autotopia and then the final one- the following week- but we'd all be complaining about not being able to get into things that we know are there lol so I guess I understand them opening it all- not really a complaint though...

I am looking forward to the player created quests- and expect the DIS to become quite proficient at it all- I could see some really tricky questions that aren't easily answered going into them- with a who finishes first prize... I also like the idea that the prizes are entered and the machine will award them- how cool is that- brings a whole new experience to the game rooms and everything...

So far I have completed all but the space station Quest- but I guess I need to do the second Autotopia quest to get the pin...

Boy- Mal is going to have her work cut out finding all the fun stuff in Tomorrow land that has yet to be discovered yet
