Tom vs. Jerry

I never cared for this cartoon because the mouse (Jerry, I think) ALWAYS won. I knew what was going to happen before it happened, so what's the point. The cat didn't seem inherently evil to me, so I never understood the undying sypathy for the mouse. But, being the self-doubting person that I am, I thought it must have been MY fault that I didn't want Jerry to win. Counseling has cured that and now I'm comforable with my choice to hate Jerry. Who's with me?

Poor Tom he always got the shaft. How about all the times that Jerry was safe and could go back to his mouse hole, but no he just had to start trouble.

I went with sometimes both because on occassion Tom did deserve what he got. But more often than not, I would agee with you. Normally I was routing for Tom to eat Jerry, and just get the whole thing done with once and for all.
Btw, there was a dog on the show - Spike and his boy Tyke. They weren't on every single episode, but they were on quite a bit.

I sill watch the show and every time I do I always feel sorry for Tom . He is like the "Silly Rabbit" off of the Trics Cereal comercial they always come out short.

I always wanted Tom to get Jerry cause he was annoying. Tom could be laying down taking a nap and Jerry would come out of his hole and start messing with him.

Now here's a question I've always had: Although most episodes consisted of Tom and Jerry's antics as Tom tries to catch Jerry and Jerry outwitting him, I seem to remember a few episodes here and there where they would actually get along and work together as a team. For instance, I think one time they were acting like doctors, wearing medical garb and carrying medical bags to go help someone. Am I completely off base on this memory? If I'm correct, how did they become friends for those isolated episodes?

As I recall, I didn't root for anyone - I just enjoyed. I preferred Bugs et al., though.

They actually made quite a few newer Tom and Jerry episodes in which the two were friends and worked together (there was also a narrator in these episodes). On my cable we get both the Cartoon Network and Boomerang. Both channels show Tom and Jerry at the same time. On one it is the classic where Tom chases Jerry, and on the other it is the newer ones, where they work together.

I was, of course, on Jerry's side. But I voted for "Dog," because the episodes with the dog were the best ones.

They must have made the new ones, where they are friends, after I grew up. Never saw those.
