Does this really exist? Are there really paint brushes to be found on the island?? How exactly does it work? How many have found them?? Thanks! :wizard:

Yep, they really hide paint brushes on Tom Sawyer's Island! DD-8 found one on our last trip there....it was late in the day, too! This one was really hidden in the bushes right near one of the mill buildings. She turned it in to the CM on the raft and when we returned to the "mainland", she gave DD a certificate for front-of-the-line access at either Splash Mt. or BTMR. She was tickled!! :earsboy:

I believe they hide 5 or 6. We found ALL of them on our last trip! No, we didn't keep all of them! LOL We just wanted the thrill of knowing that we COULD do it, 'cause we're freaks like that. We actually started stopping people and asking "hey, do you know about the hidden paintbrushes?" A lot of them didn't!

We found one in 8/05. We were given a FP for our choice of either Splash Mountain or BTMRR.

When did you go?

I can't WAIT to try to find them on our upcoming trip! I didn't know about this until I joined this board....actually, there are MANY secrets I've learned....I'm SO excited to be going back SOON to see how many of these secrets I can impress the family with! :)

We did it Oct 1 I think. We found 2 and gave one to a woman and her daughter who didn't know what the paint brush was for.

We were told they were now making it a 1 time FP for your group to ANY ride in the park that has a FP line.

We used it on Peter Pan and BTM I think. Yes we were a large group of ten people but only 3 of us went looking. The CM was nice enough to give us 2 FP certificates good for 5 people on each.

Thanks for the update. Tom Sawyer island just got an extra half hour given to it on the touring plan. Time to spend exploring the island a little bit more.

We found 2 when we went. 10-18. TSI opens at 10 am so be the 1st on the improve your odds. We also asked the CM when we turned them in to "VOID" them so we could take them home.

I read about the paintbrushes in one of my Disney World books (can't remember which one). Wasn't sure if they were still doing it. Thanks for the info.

I'm one that didn't know, and we go to TSI once during each trip :confused3
But now we know and just might look for one.

I wouldn't bother looking for a paintbrush for just 1 FP ride!! I thought it was a day long fastpass for your group for either BTMRR or Splash! C'mon Disney, where's some real pixie dust!! Does anyone have confirmation on this?

i think that the 1 ride fp is great! its fun and those who are curious or know about it , get it. i never knew about it, and i know i found one in the past because i thought it was odd that a paint brush was just laying around. LMAO now this time i won't be able to find one, you watch!

is it just a plain old paintbrush?...does anyone have a picture of them?!

We found one at end of Sept/beginning of Oct (I can't remember the exact day!) I was looking at part of the fence that has something painted on it ( I'm sorry, but I've only been there once and I am not that familiar with where I was on the island). It was the size of a large painter's brush and it had a yellow handle. It was very easy to find, it actually was in a place that most people would think a paintbrush would make sense. I found it vey late in the day, maybe about half hour before closing of the island. We use the fastpass for Spash Mountain and the CM told us we could use it again for BTMRR. The lines weren't really long, but the kids were so excited to use it!

**Sigh** We went last November. November 4th, to be exact. One year ago this Saturday. Makes me want to cry! :sad1:

They are big, colorful paintbrushes. I saw a blue, green and red while we were there (ones that people had found). We had a lot of fun searching all over the island (its bigger than it looks!) for one. One family was nice enough to give DS one they had found, but we kept exploring and DS and DD found one on their own. So we re-hid the other and pointed another family in the right direction. We actually didn't use our special fastpass - it makes a nice souvenier. We will probably do it again next trip!

We were there in Sept., right at 10 am. We searched all over the island and didn't find one. We saw two other families that had found one each. My 6 year old was very sad he didn't find one, but I think it was one of the highlights of the trip for the kids. They loved exploring all over the island, I was surprised at how large it is.
