Tom Sawyer Island

Its funny this is posted, we just got back from out trip tonight and we went to the Island for the first time. We didn't get long time to explorer it while we waited for our Splash Mountain FP but I did enjoy what we took in. The cave was cool. Reminded me a bit of Yogi's Cave from Kings Dominion without the animatronics. I concur with the rest of these fellow DIS'ers that the Island is quiet and a good way to get way from the crowds for a bit.

I was sold on checking it out from all the other posts here for our upcoming trip in September and then you mentioned Yogi Bears Cave......and got brought back to a childhood happy place. I LOVED Yogi Bears cave when I was a kid going to Kings Dominion. It's so sad that it is gone now. But, yeah, now I really want to check out TSI with my son in September!!!!

Quick question for everyone, probably not, but is there any air conditioned resting places on the island?? I'm thinking of the grandmas going with us on this trip.

There's no A/C on the island. There may be some in the bathrooms, but I don't remember that lol. Doubt the grandmas would want to relax there lmao

There's plenty of shade though. Near the docks I remember seeing a little area with a couple rocking chairs and I believe a checker board that looked like that's mainly where the older people relaxed. So maybe there would be good for them.

Thanks!! I'm scoping out cool spots for breaks for us all since it will be so hot that first week of Sept. I want the grandmas, and all of us, to be as comfortable as possible and not completely miserable.

I went with my boyfriend a couple of years ago. For us, it wasn't worth it. Just a lot of walking around/climbing .. in the hot July weather, it wasn't too fun. Lol

I think there are some A/C vents in the caves.

Not enough to cool off the whole cave, but they can be refreshing

When does it close in the summer? I know my son would love it, but every time we've been it closed at 5. We do rides before lunch then head back to our hotel for a nap, so we're usually getting back to the parks around 4:30.
