I have never been but would like to try to get to it next trip. Do you take the ferry river boat to it? Thanks! :)

Hello, there are "river rafts" that look like they were made from logs and carry about thirty people just down a bit from the river boat loading area. pirate:

Not the large Liberty Belle Riverboat - that goes around Tom Sawyer Island (nice way to see it all before you head over there though!) There is a wooden dock that is the entrance to TSI in Frontierland - more over by SM & BTMRR. You take river rafts over made out of logs. We love TSI & head there every trip.

Thanks! I have been to wdw 6 times, really no excuse for me not knowing this!

I read somewhere that CM's hide 10 or so,maybe it's paint brushes, around the island. If a child finds a brush, they get some sort of voucher for a Fastpass of their choosing.
Wonder if this is just a rumor or if it is for real....:confused3

It was real, emphasis on "was". It is no longer done.

Thanks for the update.
It's too bad that it's a " was. "
A little hide and seek is the kind of old fashioned fun Walt would have approved of.......

This was one of our favorite ways to start off our trip for many, many years. This March we raced over to be sure we were on the 1st boat to TSI to look for the brushes, only to find out they stopped doing it. :sad2:

I was just planning our two days in MK and was thinking about doing TS Island and incorporating lunch over there...and then after searching found that Aunt Polly's only serves dessert and beverages now. I know they used to have a limited sandwich menu and it was a great place to enjoy a quiet lunch away from the crowds..oh well!

Took my 7 and 5 year old over yesterday for the first time. They had fun exploring the Island. It was nice to get away from the madness for a bit. The Fort was fun, but it was hot, no AC at all over there.

Just be aware, it's very easy to lose track of your kids on that island. (speaking from experience :guilty:) There are a lot of twisting paths that divide so if they get ahead of you, it's easy for each of you to go different directions.

Heck, we even lost my MIL during the hour or so we were on that island. It definitely wasn't a highlight of our first trip to WDW.

Personally, we consider it somewhat of wasted space. (please don't flame me too bad for saying that:crazy2:)

We love it over there. An awesome way to get away from the crowds. We went early and it felt like we had the place to ourselves.

We used to love doing this. I'm so bummed they took it away. We were so excited when we got our certificate we didn't want to give it away to ride lol.

Sunset Beach Gal - We were there in January and had a our picnic lunch at the gazebo attached to Polly's restaurant. It did not appear to sell anything except for some soda vending machines.. It appeared to be a " staged" restaurant - just fake as to fit in with the setting. It is a great spot to have lunch as you can watch the Riverboat go by and relax by the water.

Quite some time ago they used to sell food there but they haven't in several years. Last year they just had vending machines. But sitting in the gazebo area is a relaxing way to people watch!

Years ago it was actually a QS restaurant. I remember it was the one place you could get peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the MK. Not sure when it closed...I'm sure someone with a better memory of MK history will know more details.
