You think? Well, I think it's unlikely he purchased a small doppler probe 1. because that wouldn't be extravagant and 2. because a hospital doesn't need someone to donate that to them. And the Doppler probe is for an entirely different purpose than the Ultrasound machine. The former is for fetal heart monitoring (as opposed to having to use a Pinard stethoscope) and the latter is for actually viewing the fetus in utero and observing its development etc performing Crown-Rump Lengths, Head circumferences, femur length, cardiac views etc... like for a detailed ultrasound. I just think buying something like that, and announcing it is basically obscene. Try donating the money he has to the third world.

I'm fully aware of the difference. I know many people who work at the local ultrasound manufacturer (ATL).

Once again, just show me proof. It wouldn't be the first time some half-tabloid looking for headlines turned one thing into another.

As for the cost, it's said he's going to donate it once they're finisheed with it. How is that not enough? He could have just kep it until the next "cult" family needed it.

I see no reason for the nastiness toward him except for pure pettiness. As for the sonogram machine, he said after the interview that he had a trained technician to operate it. What's the big deal? If I were filthy rich and expecting a child I would probably buy myself one of those machines, as well.

No thanks..I already took a good look at myself earlier today. You can call my dislike for TC pettiness if you want but I remember suffering from PPD myself this summer when TC was on a rant about anti-depressants for PPD. Those "evil" drugs just may have saved my life and I think it was reprehensible for him to go on TV acting like an expert. I know how much self-doubt can go along with PPD and the possiblity that even one woman did not get the help she needed because of his ranting does make me want to pull out the old barfing smilie.

Not to mention the fact that while there are no conclusive studies they feel there probably are risks associated with repeated ultrasounds especially with the newer higher powered ones. My doctor wanted to limit the # of ultrasounds I had just in case. Ultrasounds are not exactly toys. IMHO TC should stop playing doctor and perhaps let Katie's doctor determine how many ultrasounds are medically needed.

Based on the OP it sounds like it was reported (likely by somebody else) and he only confirmed it when asked about it.

He told Barbara Walters he purchased an ultra sound machine. So he could monitor and watch. Barbara was said to look astounded. Anyway it is reported that the medical field is looking into Prescription Fraud for using a medical device without a perscription. Why was he even allowed to purchase the machine and use it-he probably had the sales rep. who sold it to him said he was a certificable technician and showed him how to use it.

No one still has said if it is dangerous to the baby. I have understood the an ultra machine is like a sonar.
