Toll Roads - MCO to Disney

I believe Orlando area toll roads accept cash.
True for the most part. Toll roads that have been newly built and exits that have been added over the past few years and into the future are required to be cash-free. Also, express lanes, which are open on SR-528 and coming to I-4 and the Turnpike, require a transponder.
I believe roads in other parts of FL are already cashless.
The Turnpike in South Florida is cashless. Other areas, like Tampa, have a mix of cashless and cash-accepted roads.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’m confused as ever lol.
Yep. All I am trying to figure out is how many quarters to bring. So . . .

How much will I pay in tolls:
1. from MCO to Universal (using beeline)
2. from universal to Contemporary (I think none)
3. from Contemporary to MCO (using beeline)

It's hard to figure out. LOL

You can go to cfxway.com and look at their toll calculator to get specific detail. Basically, for 1 and 3, it looks like $2.50 each. For 2, I agree there should be no tolls involved. If you do look at the toll calculator, you may find a cheaper route. For instance, if you only took the Beachline from MCO to Boggy Creek Road (which I believe is near the end of Sand Lake Road -- definitely check a map if this is your choice), you could save $1 or more each way. From there, you would follow Sand Lake up to your choice of I-4, International Drive or Universal Blvd.

Thanks! That was very helpful!

Does this look about right from MCO to CBR? Not sure if I picked the correct beginning and ending points.

I am using the directions from Google Maps... although the last time I checked it told me to take the 528. Not sure if one is better or worse... we are probably going to be leaving MCO around 5:30 PM so rush hour.

No, that’s the long way around to get to CBR. You should plan to exit 417 at exit 6, International Drive/World Center Drive. Follow World Center Drive straight ahead under the Welcome to WDW sign, exiting to Buena Vista Drive. Go left on BVD, and take it west to CBR. The resort will be on the left side of BVD. If you get to Epcot Resorts Blvd by the Boardwalk, you’ve gone too far.

Two tolls, total of $3.50 cash when you exit 417 at the International Drive/World Center Drive exit, and you will be taking a more direct route to CBR. This is the typical route followed by the Magical Express buses when they stop at CBR enroute to dropping off at the Boardwalk. Only once (in more than 20 trips) has the bus continued on 417 to the Osceola Parkway exit, and that was due to the driver avoiding the construction around the intersection of World Center Drive (known as Epcot Center Drive by that point) and Buena Vista Drive.

Can anyone advise as to how you have handled toll roads from the airport to WDW during Covid times?

We recently started to rent a car every time now. Got tired of waiting on magic express and had a bad experience with Uber. I know it may cost me more, but I just drive right though the sun pass lanes and let the rental car figure it out an bill me.

Makes it so much less stressfull now. Who ever carries cash now a days.

I have no doubt that what you say is true for the toll roads in the Orlando area, and I know FDOT covers most of the toll roads in the state, but there IS at least one smaller toll authority (LEEWAY) in south Florida which I have not heard whether or not they will be adding E-Z Pass compatibility.
Lee County just announced that they have reached an agreement with CFX to process E-ZPass transactions on their behalf starting in 2021. THEA (Tampa Hillsborough Expressway Authority) has also partnered with CFX for E-ZPass interoperability.
