Weeeyheeeeey, am now doing the single digit dance.

I do have a serious question though, On the way from the airport to our Villa there will be two toll booths. The first toll is 75cents and the secod 50 cents.
Do we have to have the correct change, or will they give change from a $1.

Thank You:thumbsup2

The only time I've had to use toll booths was on the Florida turnpike and on our way back to OIA, these 2 were manned and gave change, the other time was when I got lost and ended up on a toll road at night, there was nobody at the kiosk and I had no change, I had to wait for another car to get some change, the guy must have thought I was either going to mug him or I was a crazy Brit (more likley ):rotfl: my advice would be to buy something in the airport (drink) and ask for some quarters, that way you'll be ok whatever happens.

The 50 cent one is probably on an exit, in which case it will be exact change only. You will be able to get some change from the first toll booth, which will be staffed.

We once came up to an unmanned exit toll that was either 25 or 50 cents.

Sods law we didn't have any change and didn't know what to do.

A car pulled up behind us and we drove through and pulled up, rummaging around the back seats for any coins.

The car that was behind was from the Sheriff's office and he said not to worry about anything as it happens all the time especially with visitors.

I was just a bit concerned as a parking fine from Cocoa Beach once caught up with us a few years back and didn't want to be "blacklisted" in any way.

I guess it's seen more as a "honesty box" than a real revenue generator.

read: for an amusing experiment on turnpike tolls....apparently, it doesn't really matter what you throw in there - if anything..

It may not matter in Mass but it does matter in Florida. If you use an unattended lane and put insufficient coins in the basket, you won't get a green light to proceed. If you proceed anyway the alarm rings and a photo is taken of your tag number. Three violations earns you a Uniform Traffic Citation (better known as a traffic ticket) which your rental car company will happily forward to you. Two or less and you should be ok. DO NOT EVER hang around and wait for another motorist to give you change. That's a good way to get robbed. Sorry, but Brits are notorious for wallets full of $100 bills and that makes you a huge target. Don't do it, please.

All mainline toll plazas around Orlando are staffed 24/7 to give change. Unfortunately none of the toll booths you'll find on entrance or exit ramps will be staffed, except on Florida's Turnpike itself.

lol one of the locals told us if you go through fast enough the camera is so slow it wont take the pic in time .:rotfl: :rotfl:

On SunPass lanes, the cameras will not only catch those using them illegitimately, but also anyone speeding, so I'm not sure that anecdote is strictly reliable ;) .

Bob, that's a very useful and succinct round-up - thank you. If you have time, I wonder whether you could post a short idiot's guide to the area's main toll roads and any pertinent information, particularly for us Brits? We could add it to the forum as a sticky.
