We just left Toledo and, while the food was fine, the service was abysmal. After 15 minutes without a server stopping by, we flagged a manager, who seemingly had to ask several servers before he found the one assigned to our table. The restaurant was mostly empty with lots of servers standing around.
The manager did a great job of customer service recovery by immediately ordering an appetizer and having it sent to our table. We joked around, all was well. Life goes on, etc.
The service never got any better. We waited for 20-30 minutes between courses and finally left without dessert because after two hours there we were tired and had lost our sense of humor. Dessert and coffee had been ordered for 20 minutes and since we hadn't even gotten coffee, we just asked for the bill.
I didn't get a sense the food delay was the waiter, I think it was the kitchen because runners brought our food much of the time. I think they are very understaffed or the tapas are just too time intensive.
We had to ask for water, for water refills, for our plates to be removed and clean ones brought, and our cocktail glasses (which we'd gotten at the lounge while waiting) never did get removed. We left after 2 hours and 15 minutes and had three courses of tapas. The cheese course took nearly 30 minutes, which to me seemed ridiculous. When you order tapas, you're basically done in a few bites, so the lag time was really noticeable. If it had been entrees, 20 minutes would have been fine. THAT was definitely the server.
The restaurant is gorgeous. Definitely worth a trip to see it, but I wouldn't go for the food or service at this point. Maybe dessert was better, I have no idea.
