Tokyo Hotel help!

May still want to look into the 7-day rail pass, I remember it being around the same cost as the round trip to Osaka on the Shinkansen (bullet train). Also, used pass for NRT-Hotel, etc.

Do you know if the rail pass includes all the Shinkansen trains? I could have sworn that the Nozomi trains (express) weren't eligible. I'd rather buy my ticket if I decide to go for the fastest train.

See below for information (not sure how recent - from a japanrailpass site)

"All JR Group Railways-Shinkansen"bullet trains" (except any reserved or non-reserved seat on “NOZOMI”and”MIZUHO”trains)"

7-day regular pass 29,110 YEN

Japanese Lifestyle,
Visit Japan and
GaijinPot

are some pages that I've liked on Facebook. Have a look at their history for things you might like to do...

SunRoute Plaza Hotel is a popular choice for friends of ours who go to Disney quite often. They have a choice of breakfast between Japanese style in one room and American in another. The Tokyo hotel may have the same choice.

You're going at a great time because the Yen rate is so good right now. If you have a free day around Tokyo, look up some shrine sales for some awesome souvenirs.

The gardens are so beautiful in May, you're so lucky to be going then... I really think the Wisteria is more beautiful than the Cherry Blossoms!

When my parents visited me, they bought the pass and really got a lot out of it. They did have to transfer trains, however, when they went to Kyoto from Tokyo on the Shinkansen.

Thanks! I'm really leaning toward the Prince Sakura tower hotel because of the location, but will definitely think about sun route plaza as a couple of people have mentioned it.

Unless my plans change, I'm not really sure the rail pass would be worth it. Other than the maybe day trip (which might change things) I'll be sticking very close to central Tokyo area and just don't see using $200+ in train tickets.

I'll probably spend most of my days wondering around Ikebukuro, Shinkitazawa, Shibuya, Ueno and checking out anything new the city has to offer since 2008! And of course the wedding events!
