Has anyone been to this restaurant since the refurb? How is it? How's the view for Illuminations, and what time would you recommend making the reservation for to see it?

I would assume that from the front windows you may have a view of illuminations. I have eaten there since the refurb and although I do not do sushi, I had another option and it was good. I do prefer the other part of the restaurant, Teppan Edo, as we are not sushi fans..

It is beautiful! I started a thread about it a few days ago!

The inside reminds me of a very trendy cool place in a big city, and my husband, who is a sashimi lover, thought it was great. I thought what I had was delicious. (There lots besides sushi). We went for lunch, and had priority seatings for somewhere else the next day but cancelled them and went back to Tokyo Dining. I really think that it is my new favorite place at EPCOT. The view from the window seats are amazing!

Thanks guys--I found the older thread too: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1765054

Now I'm torn between Tokyo Dining and the Coral Reef as the first dinner in the parks!

Which would you recommend? I've never been to either, and I'm travelling with two newbies. We'll be commuting in from MK.

Can't help you there! I'm a vegetarian and always thought Coral Reef would not be for me. I've never even been inside Coral Reef. Is it pretty?

I agree that I thought Tokyo Dining was one of the best meals we had during our last stay. The refurb has made it nice and airy, the service was terrific and I thought our food was excellent. As for the views of illuminations, I am not sure- someone did reply on a thread that they don't dim the lights or pipe the music in so it lost a little bit compared to how they used to do it- but since I was not there personally for that, I don't know for sure. Based purely on food and serviceI thought it was excellent. I personally can't comment on CR- but we are trying it this summer for lunch for the first time ever.

I have eaten at both Tokyo Dining and Coral Reef. I would definitely say eat at Tokyo Dining, the food is wonderful, service is outstanding and the restaurant itself is very cool. Coral Reef is okay but you may have to spend more time waiting even with ADRs than you will eating your meal.
