I was initially upset to discover that the Tempura Kiku had been closed, but discovered that Tokyo Dining opened shortly before our Nov. 11-17 visit. Our group of four enjoyed a lovely dinner at Tokyo Dining. It is a totally different experience from Tempura Kiku - louder and less intimate. However, the service was excellent, as was the food. Our waiter was newly arrived from Japan, and was struggling a bit with English, but he was attentive and cheerful.

I ordered the Ginza Gozan - tempura and sushi combo - and was quite pleased. The tempura wasn't the best I have ever had, and wasn't up to the instant delivery and freshness of Tempura Kiku, but it was tasty, lightly battered and not at all oily. I couldn't tell you now specifically which types of sushi came in the combination, but I remember that all was fresh and tasty, if somewhat ordinary. I also ordered the seaweed salad, which was yummy (if you like seaweed, which is a stretch for many Americans). My dining companions all ordered other combinations, and were pleased with their selections. I would happily return to Tokyo Dining on future visits - it is surely more authentic than the Americanized offerings at the companion teppan (Benihana style) restaurant that shares space with Tokyo Dining.

we also very much enjoyed tokyo dining...

we ate there the second week of November (just under 3 weeks ago)...

our waitress was also newly arrived from Japan....and was from a city where DD had visited only 3 weeks prior to our visit at WDW..

anyway, the service was outstanding as was the food...

we had several different kinds of sushi plus the vegetable tempura....

an experience we would definitely repeat....

So glad to hear the good reviews- I have an ADR there for our upcoming trip in January. We've always loved the food in "japan" so thought we would give the new one a try

This is great news. I have an ADR there for DBf's birthday on January 31. So glad to hear a good review over Tokyo Dining since I mostly hear about Teppan Edo instead.

I was there last week. Two people in our party got rolls - they were outstanding. One got the bento box, which she loved, and the other got a chicken dish which he loved. The decor was nice and the staff very good & attentive. We will be going back!
