DH, DD 22, and I ate dinner at Tokyo Dining on Friday night (Aug. 22). Our adr was for 8:00pm. We checked in at around 7:40 and received a pager. The young ladies who greet you were very nice, they gave us plastic Disney bags for our very wet ponchos :worship: I asked for a window seat and was told that they would do their best. We ended up getting our table at just around our adr time, and it was right next to a window :goodvibes

We were on the dining plan, but I was worried that the entrees would be too small...... :lmao: ... more on that later.

We ordered two Midoris for DH & I (gin, melon liqueur, lime and pineapple juice) that were very good but quite sweet and DD had a glass of Fess Parker Reisling wine. The wine was excellent and we ended up ordering a bottle for the three of us for dinner. We took our time here as we wanted to watch Illuminations from our table at 9:00pm.

Our waitress was very nice and slowed down our ordering process when we asked her to (she initially wanted appetizers, entrees, and desserts ordered all at the beginning!). DD loves sushi, so she ordered some as an appetizer. DH & I both ordered Garden Salads, his with sesame dressing mine with ginger. The salads were VERY good, very fresh and each had a large asparagus spear which is unusual.:lovestruc The sushi was a large serving of I believe 6-8 pieces, it was salmon with cream cheese. DD ate half of it. I also ordered us edamame to share (steamed soybean pods, slightly salty). These were also very good and a quite large serving.

DH & I both ordered the Ebi meal which is Tempura Shrimp served with white rice, seaweed salad, and tempura vegetables (zucchini, mushroom, and asparagus). DD ordered the combination meal of both tempura and sashimi, Shinjuku Gozen . This came with tempura shrimp and scallops, tempura vegetables (the same as ours), rice, seaweed salad, and 3 pieces of sashimi: yellowtail and ahi tuna, and salmon.

The entrees were HUGE!! I think there were at least 6 extra large shrimp and another 4-5 pieces of vegetables. But unfortunately the tempura batter did not sit well with my stomach at all..... it was very soft and seemed undercooked to me. Now both DD & DH liked it just fine, so I think it's just my palate (I don't like funnel cakes and beignets either, but I love beer batter fish that is crispy..... :confused3 )

I also didn't like the seaweed salad and the rice was completely bland (I poured some soy sauce on it)..... :sad2: The meal didn't have the same bad effect on DH, but he didn't enjoy his entree either (and we LOVE shrimp!).

DD loved it though, especially her sashimi...... but she was so full from the sushi that she had tons left over as well!! She took two boxes of leftovers with her, one with sushi and seaweed salad and one with tempura shrimp and vegetables (this one was overflowing!:rotfl: )

For dessert DD had chocolate ice cream, DH the ginger cake, and I had the green tea pudding. As our DDP beverage we each ordered hot green tea. The pudding was DELICIOUS and it combined with the tea made my stomach feel somewhat better (I had gotten quite nauseous). DH liked the ginger cake as well.

When Illuminations started it was POURING outside, but they dimmed the lights and piped in the music so it was a perfect location!!

Overall, it was an expensive evening but that was because of adding appetizers and alcohol ;) The entrees are plenty big enough that app's are not necessary! DH & I would not return, it was just not to our taste. The teppanyaki style is more to our liking.

But DD loved it! :goodvibes

Thank you for the review :thumbsup2
We have an 8pm ADR there as well in October. I will be sure to ask for a window seat. Good to know about the portions as well. Thanks again!
