Hi everyone!!

Are there any current dining reviews of Tokyo Dining? I'd love to hear opinions. :goodvibes

Thanks in advance!!

I didn't like it, but let me explain. In Boston we get awesome seafood and have some really good sushi. I just didn't thinkt the sushi was amazing. I expected amazing. I know I guess I just set the standard real high. Even the tempura was just cakey to me.

Its a pass for me though it is really pretty the view looking out from the restaurant.

Tokyo Dining is one of those restaurants that will be great one visit and okay the next. The one consistency is the tremendous courtesy of the cast that work there. The food is good but the menu is limited if you are not a fish eater. The experience is what brings us there. Tokyo Dining is part of Mitsukoshi, the store that is downstairs and its namesake in Tokyo. Tokyo Dining offers the same type of experience as you might have in Japan. If you have never been, it is worth trying.

DH and I ate there in Dec and their sushi wasn't that great. We got an eel roll and it was so small and had almost no eel or flavor. I can get better here at home. However, their tempura lunch special was great even with a sore throat and 101 temp. It included soup, tempura entree (I got chicken and DH got shrimp) and dessert for I think it was $25 per person. It was a great deal, a decent amount of food and we hope they have it again. We have lunch reservations for this Sat to give it another try since I was so sick last time. DH and I love Japanese food so it's a nice treat for us to go there especially when the Disney Rewards card has enough to pick up the check.

no. trust me you will NOT see anything remotely like Tokyo Dining in Tokyo. it is bland, dumbed down and Americanized.

We don't care for it but mostly because we DID eat/live in Tokyo for three glorious years and while I was never brave enough to try fugu I did try habu

if you like Japanese STYLE food it will be fine. but it will not be true Japanese food. sometimes you just have to have that bowl of Yakisoba or a nice tonkatsu cutlet

Thanks for the reviews!! :goodvibes

We may still give it a try though. One of our daughters is a huge sushi fan and we are going to Cali Grill later in the vacation (all of our really great restaurants are in the tail end), so we may try it at the beginning of the trip. :) Lord only knows, we don't want to spoil ourselves at the beginning of the trip...then we won't like anything by the time we get to the "regular" restaurants. :lmao:

We are not sushi people but we were going for the tempura...might have to cancel it and book something else.

Definitely keep the res!

Yes, the sushi is just average, but I'm just a casual sushi eater so it suits me fine. If CG is your comparison for sushi you'll be disappointed. The tempura is good though, and there are combo platters. The green iced tea is very refreshing, though the green tea pudding for dessert is just OK. Not much for dessert selections here, but keep that green tea coming!

For the non adventurous (like DH) they do very good grilled salmon, swordfish, chicken, and 2 types of steak, all with a sauce on the side. DH likes to go there just for the salmon, says it's a bigger portion and better cooked than salmon at other Disney restaurants.

We like the atmosphere, quiet and relaxed. For comparison, we don't care for Teppan Edo, too loud and busy, and the food there is just average and smaller portions than we get at places near home.
