How is dinner at Tokyo Dining and how does the view of Illuminations work here?

I like the food and atmosphere there quite a bit. We particularly liked the Volcano Roll.

There is a public balcony facing the water. You can request a table by a window, but there may be people standing in front of you and you may have to go outside anyway. This is the view from the balcony:

Is there a section exclusively for dining patrons or am i fighting for a spot after dinner? what time would be a good reservation for wanting to eat and then watch?

It is a public balcony and you do need to be there relatively early.

General rule of thumb for World Showcase Fireworks Dining:

Either go to eat or go to see the fireworks.

Depending on the time of the reservation, you will not be getting seated before the fireworks start. You will not have a table with a view of the fireworks. You will be sorely disappointed and it's all preventable. Fireworks viewable dinner seating is severely limited at most of the restaurants in the World Showcase.
