Does anyone here have this Tokina 16-28 lens or is familiar with it. I'm thinking of purchasing one for my Nikon D610. I've read some very good reviews on it.

Thanks and any information would be appreciated...

I don't own it myself, but a quick search on PON forums and it's get good reviews from most of the actual users on there. There are lots of photos taken by users with the lens. (On Canon bodies mostly, but the actual lens is the same).

I use to own the Nikon version of this lens back in 2011. Overall I thought it was a pretty good lens. Although I eventually wound up selling it and purchasing the Nikon 14-24 f/2.8.

Nonetheless, my overall experience with the lens was good. It was fairly sharp with decent build quality. My one big complaint was that I felt the corners were soft when shooting wide open at f/2.8. Therefore I needed to stop down to f/5.6 or f.8 to get the corners sharp.

I know nothing about this lens, but why not just get the Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8? That is the full frame UWA.

Well, the Tokina AT-X 16-28mm f/2.8 Pro FX retails for $649.

The Nikon AF-S Zoom Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF retail for $1996

So I think $1300 is a good reason to look into the Tokina.

SkaGoat has it dead on....
My Daughter is getting married this Saturday, our best friends son is getting married the first weekend in October in Florida, my nephew is getting married the second week in October and last but not least my son is getting married on Halloween.... believe me, if I could afford the Nikon I would buy the Nikon but from the reviews I've read on the net the Tokina is a very, very close second to the Nikon. I love Nikon and everything else, photography wise, that I own is Nikon. I appreciate everyone's feedback and I respect and envy those of you that own the Nikon. I'm just trying to find someone who has used this Tokina lens and can give me some accurate information on its performance....The Nikon costs almost three times more then the Tokina. Is the Nikon three times better then the Tokina?

Actually Tom, it would be interesting if you could do a review with the Tokina. I know you are head-over-heels for the Nikon. Most of us would love to own it. But with regards to image quality, yes the nikon is superior, but is it $1300 better? That would be an interesting comparison.

Obviously, if they were the same price, Nikon, no question.
